Spartacus: Vengeance – Full Trailer

July 30, 2011 // 2 Comments

Starz has released the full trailer for the upcoming season of Spartacus, titled Vengeance, which you can view above. The show returns in January. I love the series, but as good as the trailer looks, I still have some concerns. It’s unfortunate that Andy Whitfield got cancer and isn’t able to return as Spartacus, as he was a great Spartacus. It’s going to take a while to see this new guy (Liam McIntyre) in the role. My biggest concern is the lack of John Hannah as Batiatus. While it’s great that Lucy Lawless will be returning to her role Lucretia, which I was worried [...]

TeenNick’s The 90s Are All That

July 29, 2011 // 7 Comments

^ That’s my new favorite video and “song.” I’ve been watching this two hour block of CLASSIC 90s Nickelodeon since Tuesday (yeah, I missed day one), and I’ve been enjoying every minute of it. All That isn’t quite as funny as I found it when I was a kid, but it’s still enjoyable. I’ve seen a lot of people hating on Clarissa Explains It All, and I just don’t understand it. Clarissa is a great show, and easily the best show Melissa Joan Hart has ever done (and I did like Sabrina). Can’t wait until they start showing Are You Afraid of [...]

July 28, 2011 // 2 Comments

THQ today announced the pre-order incentive for WWE ’12, a downloadable Rock that is current for the first time ever with shaved head and tribal tattoos. You can see the Great One in action in the video above. The Rock will be available for free to those who pre-order the game from participating retailers in participating countries for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. For the US, those retailers are GameStop, Amazon, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and THQ. FINALLY, no one retailer is getting a wrestler as “exclusive” DLC, as has been the case the past couple of years. If you pre-order from [...]

Site Note

July 27, 2011 // 2 Comments

Things have slowed down a little here at The Vortex Effect, mostly due to people being busy with other things, like work or pumping an insane amount of time into NCAA Football 12, but business will be picking back up around here pretty soon. Things that are for sure coming soon include more wrestling and video game coverage, and I mean a lot more ORIGINAL and EXCLUSIVE content not just news. More movie reviews/entertainment news, and more videos and political postings (but not too much of those). As far as any politics are concerned, I’ll put the disclaimer here: This site is ran by a [...]

WATCH: Ultimate Broski Footage From Sunday Night’s WWE Raw Live Event!

July 25, 2011 // 0 Comments

Sunday night’s Raw brand live event concluded with a fan-friendly finishing move montage. This is standard fare, in a manner of speaking, so why mention this particular show closer? Because amongst the Adjusting of Attitudes and the dialings of Californian area codes was included an Ultimate Splash from the Ultimate Broski himself, Zack Ryder. Woo Woo Woo. You know it! [...]

Ron Paul To Congress: If Debt Is The Problem, Why Do You Want More Of It?

July 23, 2011 // 2 Comments

In the above video, you’ll see and hear Rep. Ron Paul hit Congress with some logic and common sense regarding the debt of the US, out of control spending, and the problem with both political parties and their so called “solutions.” I can’t help but laugh at those who think the debt is a problem and the solution in the short term is simply raise the ceiling and add more to it. The very idea of countering debt by adding more to it is beyond stupid. It’s no surprise that Dr. Paul is the one of the only ones (and easily the lead figure) that is actually talking sense [...]

Video: CM Punk confronts HHH at comic con.

July 22, 2011 // 1 Comment

Just have to pipe in with some fantasy booking here right now. I know Trips is probably still wanting his rematch with Taker, but honestly, at this point, Punk/HHH would be a better choice of match I think. Punk is the biggest rising star in eons right now, and the Game putting him over at Mania 28 would just be perfect. Short of Punk/Austin, it’s the most special thing I could think to do with Punk right [...]
