A Look At The Stacked Fall Video Game Release Schedule

With Dishonored and Hitman: Absolution getting release dates today, we’ve been commenting on how absolutely stacked the Fall and Holiday season is getting. Here are the confirmed release dates from September through November:

Far Cry 3 – September 4
Borderlands 2 – September 18
Resident Evil 6 – October 2
Dishonored – October 9
Medal of Honor: Warfighter – October 23
Assassin’s Creed III – October 30
Halo 4 – November 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – November 13
Hitman: Absolution – November 20

Of that list, I could care less about Halo 4 (only because I don’t have a 360; I love the first two Halo games though), Resident Evil 6 (never been into that franchise), and that’s really it although I’m not big into the COD craze like most gamers apparently are.

That’s quite an impressive list. We dodged a bullet with BioShock Infinite getting pushed back to February 26, 2013 as that’s going to be another money sponge.

It’s going to get worse though, as I’m sure will come into focus during E3.

WWE ’13 is going to be in there somewhere, probably November again. The Wii U is coming out sometime this year and I don’t think it’ll launch without New Super Mario Brothers Mii. It’s going to be interesting to see Nintendo’s E3 lineup eventhough they won’t be announcing a launch date of the system.

Will we still see Tomb Raider release this year? Then there’s still Aliens: Colonial Marines, and Brothers in Arms: Furious 4. What about Overstrike, the EA game being developed by Insominac (InFamous) that was announced and showed off at last year’s E3? We’ve heard nothing about that game since, so I’d imagine it’ll probably be next year, but who knows at this point? How much more LOADED will this season get?

And of course there’s been a pretty big rumor and speculation about Grand Theft Auto V releasing this year, possibly in October. That would of course be a bombshell if it were to happen. Rockstar generally likes the month of May for releases, but is there anyone out there who thinks GTA5 couldn’t release in the midst of all this and steal everyone’s thunder?

I used September through November here, but it really all kicks off on August 17th with the release of Sleeping Dogs from Square Enix. Sleeping Dogs is of course the revived True Crime: Hong Kong that looks absolutely amazing and should be a great open-world experience.

Gamers, save now, this Fall will not be kind to your bank accounts.

  1. These are actually spread out a bit to something reasonable. Granted there’s going to be a lot more to add to this list before it’s all said and done. No question that I’m going to be a poorer in the wallet come Fall.

    • I really hope Tomb Raider doesn’t get tossed in this grinder. That game looks so good, but tis a loaded season and I don’t think I can handle too many more games being added to the list.
