Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition Announced, Releasing October 14th

Whoa. Grand Theft Auto V isn’t the only open world game getting a remastered edition for PS4 and Xbox One this Fall. From out of nowhere, Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition has been revealed for PS4 and Xbox One. And it’s releasing on October 14th.

The definitive edition will include all of the game’s DLC, which is valued at $85. The Definitive Edition will retail for $59.99 and is available for pre-order now at Amazon.

Speaking of pre-ordering, doing so will net you a limited edition 28-page art book, which you can get a glimpse of below.

Smith’s Sentiment: I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am. There are way more games I thought would get a “definitive/remastered” version for the new consoles way before Sleeping Dogs. Heck, I would have pegged Nordic Games to get a Darksiders/Darksiders 2 remastered collection out before Square Enix would get a Sleeping Dogs one out. Sleeping Dogs is an amazing game with by the far the best melee combat in an open world game (and I was also a really big fan of the driving in the game). We’ve seen some games drop out of October, and in slides Sleeping Dogs. I didn’t get any of the DLC, so picking this up for $60 is a good deal for me. Fingers crossed for 1080p/60fps, although I will assume it’ll be 1080p/30fps (which is fine, just lock it at 30 if you can’t maintain a stable 60). Hopefully this means a sequel is primed for 2015. If you’re going to pick this up, let us know in the comments.

  1. To be honest although sleeping dogs was a breathe of fresh air, and I know it shouldn’t be compared to GTA, It wasn’t a game that I was left wanting a sequel to, or a remastering for that fact. The story line is great and probably the only reason I saw the game through on Xbox 360 tbh.
