December 2nd: A Field Full of Secrets December 3rd: Wild Zero Motivation December 5th: Murder of a Cat Life Partners Still Alice Pioneer The Pyramid Dying of the Light Comet Take Care Poker night The Barefoot Artist Beast Smith's Sentiment: As always, a lot of these are limited releases, so they may not all be available at your local theater. Gotta be honest, I haven't heard of any of these. Looking at them, I guess Dying of the Light might be something I'd like to see, but that's only because I typically enjoy Nicolas Cage movies. What, if anything, will you be watching in theaters this week? … [Read more...]

Check Out the Teaser Trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron

Marvel has released the teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Avengers sequel, Age of Ultron, and things look pretty grim for the super hero group. Check out the "teaser" below (I don't really consider a two minute plus trailer to be a teaser, but whatever). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmeOjFno6Do Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1, 2015. Smith's Sentiment: Call it a teaser or not, that's a great trailer for what is sure to be a fantastic movie. I'm not a comic book guy (love the Marvel movies though), and thus I know absolutely nothing about Ultron. Having said that, he seems like a great villain and it would appear that James Spader has done great work as the voice of Ultron. Excited to see this one. … [Read more...]

Actress Lauren Bacall Passes Away at Age 89

Lauren Bacall, one of the great actresses from the "Golden Age of Hollywood," died today in her home from a massive stroke. The Oscar-nominated actress was 89 years old. Bacall starred alongside husband Humprey Bogart in To Have and Have Not (although they weren't married at that time) and also The Big Sleep. Her other memorable films include The Mirror Has Two Faces, Sex and the Single Girl, Dark Passage, Key Largo, and Murder on the Orient Express. Her acting career spanned from 1944 (when she debuted in To Have and Have Not at 20-years-old) to this year, where she recently lent her voice to an episode of Family Guy. On behalf of everyone at Cinema Vortex and the entire TVE Network, our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the legendary Lauren Bacall. Smith's Sentiment: … [Read more...]

Robin Williams Passes Away at Age 63

Actor and comedian Robin Williams was found dead in his home yesterday of an apparent suicide by asphyxiation. Latest reports indicate that he hung himself with a belt. He was 63 years old. One behalf of everyone here at Cinema Vortex and the entire TVE Network, condolences to his family and friends. Smith's Sentiment: We're a day late on this I know, but I didn't have Internet access yesterday. Williams had apparently be depressed throughout most of his career, but that certainly didn't stop him from making millions of us laugh. While I won't say he was my favorite actor (he wasn't, by far), I did enjoy most of his movies. Even the likes of Popeye and RV. He also starred in what is one of my all time favorite movies... Death to Smoochy. Williams was not just a funny man though, he was … [Read more...]
