Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea Announced for PS3

Hot off the heels of the North American and European release of Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky, the next entry in the Atelier series has been announced and it'll be the third entry in the Dusk series: Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea will release this June for PS3 in Japan.' Like the recently released Escha & Logy, Atelier Shallie will feature two main characters with separate stories. Japanator says "developers have listened to fans this time around, as they stress that both campaigns will be different from one another in significant ways." I really hope that's true and that the two campaigns are different, as that'll be great and will actually create a reason to want to play through the game as both characters outside of trophy hunting. One change … [Read more...]

Review: Atelier Escha & Logy – Alchemists of the Dusk Sky

Atelier

If you're a fan of RPG's then March has been a fantastic month for you, especially if you're a PS3 owner. We started the month with the release of the excellent South Park: The Stick of Truth, and on March 11th both Dark Souls II and Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky released. For me, the latest Atelier game came at just the right time as the South Park game had gotten me in the mood for some classic turn based JRPG battles and I'm not really the biggest fan of turn based combat. I don't have a long history with the long-running Atelier series, but I'm not a total newcomer to the series either. Back in 2012 I played and reviewed Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland and greatly enjoyed it. Unfortunately I never got around to picking up last year's Atelier Ayesha: The … [Read more...]

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland Review

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland (Playstation 3) Developer: Gust Publisher: NIS America Genre(s): Role-playing (JRPG) Released: May 29, 2012 (US), May 25, 2012 (EU), June 23, 2011 (Japan) ESRB Rating: T - Teen I suspect there are many male (and female) gamers in America, a majority even, who are completely like I was prior to receiving Atelier Meruru; totally oblivious to the Atelier franchise of JRPG alchemy games. And I suspect many would see the cute characters and the animation, and the fact that you play as a girl and immediately write the franchise off. Personally, that's how I was. I've never been big into Japanese games, particularly because I don't like turn-based games all that much. My only experiences with Japanese role-playing games have all been pleasant though, but … [Read more...]

Playstation 3 JRPG fans take note, NIS America has announced that the next installment in the Atelier series, Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland, has seen a slight delay. The game was originally expected to release in North America next Tuesday, May 22nd. Due to a delay in the manufacturing process, the game has been pushed back a week and will now hit stores on May 29th. So the good news here is that it is only a slight delay. The game will still release on May 24th in Europe. … [Read more...]

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland Official Trailer

NIS America has posted an official trailer for Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland on YouTube, which you can check out above. I said back in January that I was interested in this, and I'm even more so now. Cute JRPG's can be a lot of fun, and I've watched a ton of videos from this series (particularly the Arland ones), and this looks like great fun to me in a manner not as intense as a lot of games (especially Western ones). If you're interested in this, and hopefully you are, you won't have to wait too much longer. The game hits Playstation 3 in about two months; May 22nd. … [Read more...]
