Review: Wolfenstein The New Order

June 4, 2014 // 0 Comments

Wolfenstein: The New Order (PC [Reviewed], PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360) Developer: MachineGames Publisher: Bethesda Softworks Genre(s): First Person Shooter Released: May 20, 2014 MSRB Rating: M – Mature I am always happy to welcome a new Wolfenstein game.  The previous Wolfenstein game from 2009 was slagged on certain quarters.  I would contend it was a bit underrated and overlooked. I want to state upfront that this is game that merits a strong Mature rating most notably for some grim sequences and at least one very notable torture sequence that in my opinion was excessive and over [...]

Console Version of The Elder Scrolls Online Delayed Six Months

May 8, 2014 // 2 Comments

The Elder Scrolls Online released last month for PC, and it was scheduled to release in June for both PS4 and Xbox One. That isn’t going to happen now due problems Bethesda is facing with getting their systems integrated with the PlayStation and Xbox networks. They reckon they’ll need around six months to get it ready, so don’t expect to play Elder Scrolls Online on your console anytime soon unfortunately. Here’s a statement released by Bethesda this morning: We’ve been grateful to our fans for the wonderful response to our recent launch of The Elder Scrolls Online [...]

Wolfenstein: The New Order Trailer Shows Off Stealth & Mayhem Gameplay

April 29, 2014 // 1 Comment

Wolfenstein: The New Order got a new trailer today that shows off one area of the game played twice: stealthily and all guns firing mayhem. Which way will you play when the game releases on May 20th? Wolfenstein: The New Order is coming to PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on May 20th. Pre-ordering the game from any retailer will include a beta code for DOOM. Smith’s Sentiment: The stealth looks pretty good here. I’ll probably try and play it that way first as much as possible, although there’s certainly something to be said for the chaotic approach as [...]

Wolfenstein: The New Order Panzerhund Collector’s Edition Announced for $100, Does Not Include Game

March 26, 2014 // 5 Comments

I think it’s safe to say collector’s editions for video games have finally gone overboard. Today, Bethesda announced Wolfenstein: The New Order Panzerhund Edition. Limited to just 5,000 copies, the $100 collector’s edition includes everything you see below: So what all is that? Panzerhund Edition comes in a vintage footlocker-style box (measuring approximately 20″ x 10.5″ x 8.5″) with a stamped number plate right above the antiqued clasp. Inside, you’ll find a classified folder affixed to the lid containing 11 classified documents (an assortment of [...]

June 6, 2013 // 0 Comments

We’re a few days away from E3, so you know what that means… it’s time for E3 trailers. Bethesda released the E3 trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order this morning, and it looks pretty darn good. I say that as someone who has never been into the franchise. The New Order definitely has my attention though. Check out the trailer below. Wolfenstein: The New Order is scheduled to release later this year and it’ll be coming to PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox [...]

Time has not been my friend lately, thus limiting my gaming time the last couple of weeks and thus delaying my review for this installment of The Backlog. Today we will be looking into the latest offering from Bethesda and Arkane Studios, Dishonored. Dishonored is a first person, action-adventure game that can be played in a stealth [...]

Review: Dishonored (PC)

October 10, 2012 // 5 Comments

Dishonored (PC [Reviewed], Playstation 3, Xbox 360) Developer: Arkane Studios Publisher: Bethesda Genre(s): First Person RPG/FPS Sim Released: October 9, 2012 ESRB Rating: M – Mature Arkane Studios consists of veterans from the Deus Ex series, Half life series, Thief games and has been 3 years in the making and I’m happy to report the wait was well worth it. It would have been huge shock and arguably one of the biggest letdowns in gaming in years had it not been given the pedigree of the talent that created this game. I’m a huge fan of these kinds of games and I’m thrilled to [...]

Choose Your Path to Revenge In This Interactive Dishonored Trailer

October 4, 2012 // 1 Comment

It’s the week of the interactive trailer for games that come out October 9th apparently. Earlier this week we had the epic XCOM interactive trailer that basically served as a demo tutorial, and today Bethesda has released an interactive trailer for Dishonored titled “Path to Revenge.” There’s a branch in this trailer that allows for a non-violent playthrough, which is how I want to actually play the game.  The trailer is best played in full screen. Dishonored is arriving in stores this coming Tuesday, October 9th, for PC, PS3, and Xbox [...]

Dishonored Goes Gold!

September 28, 2012 // 3 Comments

Today is a joyous day for the fine folks at Arkane Studios and Bethesda, as the publisher announced today on their blog that Dishonored has gone gold. After more than three years of development, 30+ versions of the game (accounting for different languages, countries, and platforms) are ready for release. Huge congrats to Arkane’s Lyon and Austin offices, as well as everyone else involved with the project. We also send along our congratulations to the team who have been working on the game for the past three years. We’ll know in 11 days how good the game is, but everything we’ve [...]

Check Out This 30 Second TV Spot for Dishonored

September 28, 2012 // 0 Comments

Dishonored is coming to stores in North America in 11 days, on October 9th. The above video is a TV spot that’s running to advertise the game, and if I didn’t already know about the game it would definitely make me interested. It’s a really good 30 second TV spot. Maybe too much killing in it though. I only say that though because I’m really wanting to play through this game without killing anyone, and judging from all the stuff I’ve seen on the game, that’s going to be quite a challenge. Thankfully it’s a challenge I’ll gladly take on. [...]

Dishonored – The Tales from Dunwall Part 3: In the Mind of Madness

September 27, 2012 // 0 Comments

Bethesda has released the third and final episode of the Tales from Dunwall webisode series, check it out above. ‘In the Mind of Madness’ introduces Piero, a key figure in the city of Dunwall, and who also plays a pivotal role in Corvo’s story. Corvo is of course the guy you’ll be controlling when Dishonored hit stores on October 9th for PC, PS3, and Xbox [...]
