The Last of Us Digital Pre-order & Season Pass Available Now on PSN

the-last-of-us

Naughty Dog's latest sure be awesome game doesn't release until June 14th, but you can now pre-order a digital copy of the game through the PlayStation store. Unlike other PS3 games to be offered digitally on the store though, The Last of Us will be available to download at midnight on June 14th. Even better, it's using a special downloader that will allow you to start playing the game once the download reaches the half way point. Yes, Sony really can't wait for you to start playing the game on the 14th so they've sprinkled in some of that PS4 magic into the game downloaded. Also available now on the PS Store is the season pass for the game, which costs $19.99 and features three pieces of DLC content and some day one bonuses (which I don't know why you would want to use … [Read more...]

Game Review: Call of Juarez Gunslinger

call-of-juarez-gunslinger-feat

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (PSN [Reviewed], XBLA, PC) Developer: Techland Publisher: Ubisoft Genre(s): Western, First Person Shooter Released: May 21, 2013 Price: $14.99 ESRB Rating: M – Mature   It’s a funny thing when a franchise can have three retail games available, the last of which is widely considered to be quite bad, and then have a fourth game be reduced down to a cheap digital only title. Now you may be asking “well what’s funny about that?” and the funny thing is the $15 downloadable title with almost no promotion whatsoever is easily the best game in the franchise. And it’s not even close. After the horrible decision to take Call of Juarez to the present day with “The Cartel,” Techland is back with another Call of Juarez game set in the … [Read more...]

Ubisoft Confirms Watch_Dogs & Assassin’s Creed IV for Xbox One

Ubisoft

From the "you don't say" department: Ubisoft has officially confirmed that both Watch_Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag are coming to Xbox One. We needed this confirmation because "available on PlayStation 4 and other next-gen platforms" simply wasn't clear. Of course Ubisoft will get no lover from a Xbox press event, because they give exclusive content (mainly missions, and including both Assassin's Creed IV and Watch_Dogs) to PlayStation. Here's the tweet to officially confirm what we all already knew, because you know "official." https://twitter.com/Ubisoft/status/336903299917819905 Both games will be out this Fall for almost every platform available (PlayStation 3 & 4, PC, Wii U, Xbox 360 & One), because unlike some publishers (EA, Activision), Ubisoft … [Read more...]

Game Review: Metro Last Light (PC)

Metro-Last-Light-feat

Metro Last Light (PC [Reviewed], PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) Developer: 4A Games Publisher: Deep Silver Genre(s): First person shooter Released: May 14, 2013 ESRB Rating: M – Mature * A copy of this game was provided by the publisher for review. In a post apocalyptic not too distant future a year after the events of the first game, protagonist Artyom returns to face the consequences and fallout of the events of that game and it's a more refined but equally as intense, dark, and immersive experience as Metro 2033 ever was. For some reason there were concerns that this game was going to be “dumbed down for the Call of Duty crowd” and I am happy to report that is not the case. If you loved the first game you will absolutely love this and you will also have one of the best … [Read more...]

New “The Last of Us” Gameplay Video Is Incredible

the-last-of-us

Oh my! Check out this new gameplay footage from Naughty Dog's upcoming title "The Last of Us" that is looking like it's going to be another instant classic for the talented Sony studio. Naughty Dog has never disappointed, ever. This game looks absolutely amazing and I can't wait to devote many hours to it and getting the Platinum for it. We don't have to wait much longer for it, we're only a month away at this point, but I seriously wish I had this game right now and was playing it instead of writing this post. The Last of Us releases on June 14th exclusively on PlayStation 3. Pre-order the game now from Amazon and get the Sights and Sound Pack plus a $10 A/V credit. … [Read more...]

Massive Layoffs Hit Trion Worlds

Defiance

These kind of updates are always the worst: Reports have been coming in that Trion Worlds, developers of the MMO's Rift and most recently the console/PC MMO Defiance, have been hit with massive layoffs. IGN first reported that half the company had been laid off, although they updated their story with word that Trion told them those numbers were exaggerated. It seems the hardest hit part of the company is the San Diego studio, which is the studio that worked on and still is working on Defiance. Trion supplied a comment to IGN and GameInformer: "To best position Trion in a rapidly changing industry, we have reorganized our teams and are expanding our free to play offering.  With Defiance, we delivered a great game that more than one million gamers registered to play and continue … [Read more...]

DEMOED! Fuse Impressions

Fuse-

Fuse (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) Developer: Insomniac Games Publisher: EA Genre(s): Action, Third Person Shooter Releases: May 28, 2013 Price: $59.99 ESRB Rating: M – Mature   I was pretty excited when Insomniac revealed Overstrike at E3 back in 2011. It was actually my favorite trailer from any presentation that year. I liked the look of it and the apparent humor, and although I am a PlayStation 3 gamer was happy to see that Insomniac was going multiplatform so that more people could enjoy their outstanding work. And then the game fell off everyone's radar, only to come back later with a new title and no cartoonish art. I didn't think that would bode well for the new IP, and especially one I was looking forward to in large part because of the art, but now that I've … [Read more...]
