Surgeon Simulator: A&E Anniversary Edition (PS4) Developer: Bossa Studios Publisher: Bossa Studios Genre(s): "Simulation" Released: August 13, 2014 ESRB Rating: T - Teen Surgeon Simulator received a lot of buzz when it initially released on PC, not because it was an authentic surgeon simulation game, but because of how absurd it is. After watching videos, I was intrigued and tried out the game. I saw the humor in it, but wasn't a fan because the controls were horrible (by design to a degree) for me. When I heard it was coming to PS4, I knew I wanted it because a controller would be better for me. Note that the game still controls horribly, again by design. That's part of its, and maybe its only, charm. You only have one hand, and on PS4 your thumb and index finger are controlled by … [Read more...]

Funky Barn Wii U Trailer is Funky Farming

That, ladies and gentlemen, is Funky Barn and its a Wii U launch title. I admittedly hadn't heard anything about this game until this trailer was released, and I really don't know how that happened. I've since read around the web and have seen people calling it shovelware, and that's nonsense. I like simple farming games (with the exception of FarmVille, as I don't care much for any Facebook game), and this one looks like it could be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it's launching on November 18th, which is of course the Wii U launch date. So it's competing against heavy hitters like New Super Mario Bros U., ZombiU, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed III, Scribblenauts Unlimited, and many other titles. So it's likely to continue to fly under most people's radar, and that's too bad … [Read more...]

SimCity Gets A Release Date: March 5, 2013

Virtual city builders rejoice, EA today announced the release date for the heavily anticipated SimCity. It's coming in early 2013; March 5th to be exact. It'll be available for the both the PC and Mac. This just adds another big title to an already stacked early 2013. Seriously, February through May is absolutely loaded with big release titles that puts this Fall to shame. I like the SimCity games and this new one looks fantastic. This is a franchise that I think could do really will on Wii U (I think of many ways in which the GamePad could be utilized) so I'd love to see EA give it a Wii U port. Unfortunately that probably has virtually no chance of happening. … [Read more...]

Here’s A Harvest Moon: A New Beginning Trailer

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning now has a "soft" release date, which means you should be able to see it start appearing in stores this Tuesday, even though the official release date is November 6th. It's for the 3DS. If I had a 3DS, I'd be all over this game. It looks great, and I love the Harvest Moon franchise. In fact, depending on how much cross-platform support 3DS and Wii U have, I may just purchase a 3DS at some point next year. But of course, what I'm really looking forward to is the first Harvest Moon game for Wii U. That's one franchise where I can think of numerous ways in which the GamePad could be used to improve the game. Call it Harvest Moon U and make it a bigger version of Harvest Moon 64 (which is still the best). Come on Natsume! … [Read more...]
