New “The Last of Us” Gameplay Video Is Incredible

the-last-of-us

Oh my! Check out this new gameplay footage from Naughty Dog's upcoming title "The Last of Us" that is looking like it's going to be another instant classic for the talented Sony studio. Naughty Dog has never disappointed, ever. This game looks absolutely amazing and I can't wait to devote many hours to it and getting the Platinum for it. We don't have to wait much longer for it, we're only a month away at this point, but I seriously wish I had this game right now and was playing it instead of writing this post. The Last of Us releases on June 14th exclusively on PlayStation 3. Pre-order the game now from Amazon and get the Sights and Sound Pack plus a $10 A/V credit. … [Read more...]

Sleeping Dogs Headlines North American PS+ May Offerings

PSPlusMay13

PlayStation Plus continues to be the best deal in gaming as Sleeping Dogs joins the Instant Game Collection beginning with tomorrow's PS Store update. The critically acclaimed (see Brian's review here to see why he gave it 4/4, or a 9.0 on the old scale) a open-world action game from last year will be available for PS+ members to download for free (the title is priced at $49.99 on PSN, so this one game is equal to the cost of a year of PS+ subscription). Sleeping Dogs is being joined by May's other free offerings The Pinball Arcade and Kyntt Underground both for PS3/PS Vita, and Germinator and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND for PS Vita. New arrivals this month means something have to leave the Instant Game Collection. If you're a PS+ subscriber, or you're looking to subscribe … [Read more...]

Platinumed: InFamous

InFamous

December 24, 2009, Christmas Eve, was when I finally got a PlayStation 3. The console came bundled with two great games, Killzone 2 and InFamous. I got a lot of other PS3 games on this same day:  BioShock, Assassin’s Creed, and Battlefield: Bad Company, to name a few. That naturally meant that I had to try them all out, and BioShock was the first one that I played. My first four trophies were BioShock trophies, and then I took it out and I put in InFamous. On December 24, 2009, I acquired my first trophy for InFamous:  a bronze story trophy called “Good Eats.” A few days later, I would acquire two more InFamous trophies: “Stunt Man” and “Good Riot.” And that was the end of my playing InFamous until I got the “Good Train” trophy on November 10, 2010. Of course once I … [Read more...]

Resistance 3 – PS3 Exclusive

So we haven't talked much(if any?  sorry, didn't check the archives first) about this game on here yet, which is understandable with the all the other good stuff coming out of E3 this year, my working like a dog and being busier than usual on the weekends, and Gary being just one man, but it's still a shame. The original Resistance was the first game I got with my first Playstation 3 back in 2006, and it was the first game I beat on the PS3.  It was a fun shooter, and, at the time, one of the best games I had ever played.  Resistance 2 I can't comment on, because, well, it's still sitting on my shelf(if you haven't noticed, my reviews are titled 'The Backlog', and there is a reason for that). From Insomniac's Resistance 3 webpage: August, 1957. America is lost. Four years after … [Read more...]

The Backlog Volume 2 – Lair (Playstation 3)

Publisher:  Sony Computer Entertainment Developer:  Factor 5 Genre(s):  Action-Adventure Released:  August 31, 2007 ESRB Rating: T-Teen Lair is something of your basic story of guy that fights for the good guys, slowly discovers that there are corrupt forces at work on his side, joins the other side, and must then defeat the corrupt leadership he used to work for to bring peace to the world.  Sound a tad complicated?  It is, but the story flows fairly nicely.  If only I could say the same for all the game play features. While most of the game play is pretty straight forward, some of the one-on-one flight combat controls involves jerking the controller around in order to slam into the other dragon, not very user friendly in my view.  Also, while some of the cut … [Read more...]

Review: Killzone 2

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment Developer: Guerrilla Games Genre(s): Action, Futuristic, First Person Shooter Released: February 27, 2009 ESRB Rating: M – Mature Hello and welcome to The Backlog, a look at some older video games that I’m finally getting around to playing.  Here on the debut edition we’ll be taking a look at Killzone 2, the 2009 follow-up to the Playstation 2 hit Killzone and the PSP installment, Killzone: Liberation. The game starts with one of the best intro video clips I’ve ever seen on a game.  The leader of the Helghast, Emperor Scolar Visari is making an impassioned speech to the people of Helghan about the coming ISA invasion. As the camera pans back from Visari’s face to reveal a TV screen being watched by two of our main … [Read more...]
