Hello all and welcome to another edition of The Backlog. Tonight I will be talking about Tom Clancy’s journey into the world aerial combat.
Our story begins as United States Air Force pilot Captain Scott Mitchell in 2014. You and your High Altitude Warfare Xperimental squadron are sent to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico to provide air support for “Ghost” team(ie. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2) in the city. The Air Force soon decides to end the program, and Mitchell and his pilot buddies are quickly recruited by a private military firm, Artemis. Fast forward several years and a number of successful contracts later, our gameplay picks back up and we get to trot all over the globe and fly over various different terrains.
A while into the game, we are taken to Rio de Janeiro to help the Brazilians defend an attack from Las Trinidad. The U.S. also steps in, which pisses off the Artemis brass, causing Artemis to switch sides and strike a deal with Las Trinidad. Crenshaw and friends being the country loving patriots they are, immediately quit Artemis and help to defend a battered U.S. Naval fleet from an Artemis onslaught. From there, Artemis and America declare war on each other, and we march towards the end of the game flying over U.S. soil and blowing up your former employers.
This is a pretty solid game. Nothing overly earth shattering, but good for a romp. Graphics are pretty good as well the higher up you are, but there are some pixilation issues if you fly close to the ground. I played using the Ace Edge flight stick that came with the Ace Combat 6 limited edition, and it worked like a charm. This game was a lot of fun and can be picked up pretty cheap these days. Well worth it if you are looking for a flight simulation shooter. Until next time readers, Game On.
