No More Quick Daily Reviews

Vortex Effect Site News

If you noticed that there was no Quick Daily Review yesterday, it’s because I’m retiring the daily series after 65 days of it.

Attempting to stick to a deadline like this reminded me of why I quit writing wrestling columns for Lords of Pain (well one of the reasons): When the hobby becomes a chore and ceases to be fun, it’s time to stop it. And that’s what the daily reviews, no matter how brief, became.

I’m not finished writing the quick reviews though; they just won’t be daily anymore. That way I can write one when I want to without feeling like I have to.

  1. The series is really good, Gary! I understand what you mean. Sometimes it can be hard to write something everyday, especially something as in depth as reviews.

    • Thanks! I’m still going to try and get something posted daily, except maybe during the weekend, but not reviews. Hopefully writing a review when I want to, instead of feeling like I have to, will lead to better quality reviews.

  2. Don’t blame you. Real life comes first and this is supposed to be about having fun.

  3. Good, we lose many bloggers in the daily attempt.

  4. Hey, 65 days in a row is pretty damn impressive! I couldn’t even imagine pulling off something like that. Keep up the great work, man.

    • Well I did miss two days (of which one day was made up for by posting two in one day), so I didn’t even really make it to 65 days in a row. I think I made it to 49 or 50 before I missed a day. Thanks!

  5. Good job making it as far as you did though. Agreed with the poster above, setting daily goals like that will burn you out. Unless you’re getting paid to do it or its for school credit or something out of your hand (or you happen to be writing the next great novel etc), I support just writing when you feel inspired to do so. Got to keep it fun or might as well not bother.

    • Thanks and agreed. I should have known better considering it was the weekly requirement at LOP that caused me to become disinterested in writing wrestling columns for them.

And to be honest, I was also running out of things I actually wanted to bother writing about to have to try and force something daily. Will definitely be fun again.
