Gift Idea Review: Breaking Bad – I Am The Danger [Book]

Christmas Gift Idea Reviews

Hard to believe, but tomorrow is Thanksgiving and that means Christmas is a month away. If you’re like me, you’re almost done with your Christmas shopping already. Most folks haven’t even gotten started yet though. If you’re one of those people, then keep checking back here as we’re going to be reviewing some possible gift ideas over the next few weeks. These aren’t long reviews of course, basically just a few quick impressions of a product that isn’t expensive.

AMC’s Breaking Bad is an immensely popular television show and no doubt many people will have the final season DVD/Blu-ray on their wishlists this Christmas. If you’re looking to buy a gift for a Breaking Bad fan and don’t want to buy them the final season or maybe want something to go with it, then Running Press’ official companion book Breaking Bad: I Am The Danger is a great gift idea.

I Am The Danger is a small 144-page hardcover book that contains full-color photographs and quotes from the cast of characters spanning all five seasons of the series. The first page is a full-color photo of Walt in his classroom doing a chemistry experiment, and the second page is the quote:

WALT: Did you learn nothing from my chemistry class?

JESSE: No, you flunked me, remember?

And that’s basically how the book goes. Occasionally, the photo will cover both pages and have the quote on one side. Rarely, there will be two different scene photos side by side with quotes written across them. Usually though, the book follows the pattern of color photo on the left, and quote on a green or blue background on the right.

The pages are high quality, glossy paper so the book feels good. The binding appears decent enough. I haven’t noticed any problems with after flipping through it several times. If someone were to frequently flip through the book then who knows how long the binding would hold, but with normal use it should last a good while.

The book comes out on December 10th and has a suggested retail price of $13.95. You can pre-order it now from Amazon for $11.63 and save a couple of bucks. That’s a decent price; the photos are great quality and paper is good. For the Breaking Bad fans, it should make an excellent inexpensive gift as its packed with photos of memorable scenes and quotes from the series.

I’m including a photo of the book below propped up on my Chromebook to give you an idea of the size of the book. It’s kind of thick (144-pages of good quality paper), but it isn’t wide. The Chromebook is 11.6 inches (screen size). Could maybe be a stocking stuffer, but the book is actually fairly heavy.

I’ll give this a BUY either for yourself if you like Breaking Bad or as a gift for a Breaking Bad fan as its inexpensive and nice quality and you really can’t ask for more than that.

* A copy of this book was provided by the publisher.
