A new PS4 developer diary for Destiny released today on PlayStation’s YouTube channel, you can catch the three minute video below. The diary shows off some of the armor, weapons, and the loot in Destiny.
Destiny’s arsenal is vast and varied: fire-spewing shotguns and head-melting fusion rifles coexist beside traditional pistols and rifles. Weapons span three broad categories: Primary (autorifles and hand cannons), Special (shotguns and sniper rifles), and Heavy (rockets and belt-fed machineguns).
There’s plenty of variety within each category, too. The autorifle sub-category include burst-fire pulse rifles, single-shot carbines, and an array of full-auto assault rifles that prove murderously effective at close range. Despite the sprawling arsenal, Bungie’s designers are taking pains to hand-tune each weapon’s look, feel, and lore, making them feel like natural extensions of the game’s fiction, not the expressions of some rampant computer algorithm.
Destiny releases on September 9th for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. A beta will hit this summer.
Smith’s Sentiment: Destiny is my most anticipated games of the year. I’ve been looking forward to it since the first gameplay was shown off during Sony’s press conference at E3 a year ago. I originally planned on probably double dipping, as I was going to get Destiny for PS3. However, I’ll have a PS4 this week so I’ll just be picking it up for PS4 and skipping the PS3 version all together. If the game is as good as I think it will be, it’s going to be a staple in my gaming for quite some time.
