Changes To Our Commenting System

We’ve allowed comments on older posts for quite some time, because some of our old posts are still quite popular and in some cases it can be helpful for new readers to be able to leave a comment/ask a question, like with our How to Be Game Reviewer article (which is really popular and gets a lot of hits everyday, because if you search Google for “how to be a game reviewer” it is the first article that comes up).

Unfortunately, the spam filter here on WordPress.com is complete garbage for the past two weeks, and frankly I’m tired of it. Everyday it has been 30+ bogus spam comments on older posts. If WordPress can’t solve their own issues, I have to solve it myself, and that means I’ve disabled comments on older posts.

I was going to do one week, but that seemed wrong. I ended up settling on three weeks. So, once a post is three weeks old, it can no longer be commented on.

If there’s something you want to comment on that is older than that, please hit up our forums and let us know there.

  1. Sucks, but sadly a necessity when dealing with spam of that magnitude.
