Destiny Daily 11/7/14: Xur Sells Truth, Daily Bounties, No More Ranting About Nightfall Rewards

Destiny Daily

Guardians, it’s Friday, and that means Xur has returned to the Tower. You can check out his wares and location immediately below this section.

I got my Titan up to level 28 yesterday. I ran the Weekly Heroic with him to pick up nine more strange coins, and I ran the Nightfall with him. I was hoping Xur would bring a weapon I don’t have, but if he didn’t I was hoping he’d bring an Ice Breaker so I wouldn’t have to keep passing it between my Hunter and Titan.  My reward for doing the Nightfall ended up being an Ice Breaker, so I was pretty happy about that. I also gave the Monte Carlo that I got from doing the Nightfall with my Hunter to my Titan, and I have to say that I really like that gun. It looks great, and it fires great. Need a little more stability for it and to upgrade the damage, but even bare bones it is a really sweet gun. So that’s two exotic weapons for me this week and weeks without seeing a strange coin from the Nightfall; I can’t rant about Nightfall loot anymore.

Xur’s exotics are up now, the daily bounties directly below it.

Xur’s Exotics

Crest of Alpha Lupi
Titan Chest – Whoever survives our passing does so only by our consent. 13 SC
Mask of the Third Man
Hunter Helmet – “It wasn’t me. It was the Third Man.” 13 SC
Sunbreakers Warlock Gauntlets – “When one can wield the fire of stars, what use s flesh and bone?” 13 SC
Rocket Launcher – “… is where you seek it.” 17 SC
Exotic Engram Helmet Exotic Engram – Random exotic helmet for a random class. 23 MoL

Xur can be found by the railing in the hangar. When you can first see where the ships land, go right towards the railing where you can see the city. He’s been there before, can’t really miss him. I went in with 45 Strange Coins, and ended up with nothing. I already have Truth, and while it’s a good rocket launcher, I don’t really care for two of them. Oh well, maybe something next week. If you pick up anything this week, let us know in the comments.

Vanguard Bounties

Target: Sepiks Prime Defeat Sepiks Prime in “The Devils’ Lair” Strike on Earth. +50 / +2,500
Target: Valus Ta’aurc Defeat Valus Ta’aurc in the “Cerberus Vae III” Strike on Mars. +50 / +2,500
One For All Achieve Gold Tier Rating in 3 Public Events. +100 / +5,000
Fallen Leaders Kill 10 Fallen Majors or Ultras. +100 / +5,000
Knuckleduster Melee Kill 30 enemies without dying. +50 / +2,500
Patrol The Moon
Complete 6 Patrol missions on the Moon. +50 / +2,500

It’s one of those days where they don’t want you to combine bounties. I hate that One For All bounty. Public events are super easy and can be solo’d quickly, but trying to get to an area in hopes that one of these events spawns three times is a minor hassle. Because sometimes they don’t spawn. Use to try and make it easier on yourself.

Crucible Bounties

The Wild Hunt Defeat 25 Hunters in the Crucible. +75 / +3,750
Never See You Coming Defeat 10 Guardians from behind. +100 / +5,000
Throw Down Defeat 20 Guardians with your melee attack. +100 / +5,000
Longshot Defeat 15 Guardians with headshots using a Sniper Rifle. +100 / +5,000
Ash and Dust Defeat 15 Guardians with a Rocket Launcher. +50 / +2,500
Revengeance Earn 5 Postmortem medals. +100 / +5,000

The Crucible playlist for today is Clash.

Daily Heroic Mission: A Stranger’s Call

Location: Ishtar Sink, Venus

  • Follow the Stranger’s coordinates to a legendary colony lost in the jungles of Venus.

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • JUGGLER – No ammo drops for your equipped weapon.

  • Cryptarch Engram
  • Vanguard Marks +5
  • +4800 XP (lvl 20) l +6000 XP (lvl 24) l +7500 XP (lvl 28)
  • Ascendant Material (lvl 24) l 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 28)

This is the first mission on Venus, but it can still get hectic. This is when you first run across the Vex. The mission is simple; just fight off a few waves of Vex enemies. Of course that includes a ton of Goblins, Hobgoblins, and several Minotaur’s. I like to get up on the highest balcony, as the Vex can’t get up there so it’s mostly safe. With the juggler modifier, that just means you’ll down to get ammo and try to get back up as quickly as possible (which isn’t exactly easy as a hunter when you’re being shot at). If you don’t want to get up top, just keep them in front of you and at a distance, and you shouldn’t have too much trouble. Just don’t get surrounded trying to pick up ammo.

That’s going to do it for today Guardians. Remember, no Destiny Daily on Saturday and Sunday, so I’ll be back again on Monday for more Destiny Daily. Did you buy anything from Xur this week? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I bought the exotic engram on my warlock and it turned into the Skull of Dire Ahamkara (which i wanted for completion purposes), the titan Crest of Alpha Lupi. I am now done with Xur this week. I for one am glad that Xur is repeating weapons sold. As much as I want the horn and Plan C, I don’t want the exotic market to become more saturated then it already is. Some exotics should remain “Exotic”.

    • I can agree with that. Would probably help if there were more exotic weapons in the game. We know the exotics that you acquire for completing exotic bounties won’t be sold, and neither will the Mythoclast or the PlayStation exclusive weapons (until Fall 2015 at least). So those should be exotic enough to where I don’t mind Xur selling the other ones (I say that purely because I’m a weapon collector).

They need more exotic weapons obtained through exotic bounties. I’d prefer them to be harder PVE challenges too. I’d love to have Thorne (it’s the only exotic bounty weapon I don’t have), but the PVP portion of it is absurdly stupid for me. And I have Atheon’s Epilogue, which should make it easier but doesn’t.
