Destiny Daily 11/10/14: The World Resets Tomorrow, Daily Bounties

Destiny Daily

Welcome back, Guardians. Hope you all had a great weekend; I had did… what an exciting, nailbiting final two minutes to the Alabama at LSU game Saturday night. Today is the last day of the Destiny week, which means tomorrow we’ll get a new Nightfall and Weekly Heroic Strike and once again be able to earn Marks and loot from the raid. They through a curve ball this week by going to the Mars Strike, but I think it’s a safe bet that the Nightfall/Weekly tomorrow will be Winter’s Run on Venus.

I have a review to finish up, so I’ll stop the intro and get right to it. Here are the bounties for 11/10:

Vanguard Bounties

Target: Phogoth  Defeat Phogoth, the Untamed in “The Summoning Pits” Strike on the Moon. +50 / +2,500
Relic Harvest – Venus  Collect 200 Pumice Threads on Venus. +50 / +2,500
It’s All in the Head  Kill 100 enemies with precision damage. +50 / +2,500
Body Dropper  Kill 100 enemies without dying. +50 / +2,500
Knuckleduster  Melee Kill 30 enemies without dying.  +50 / +2,500
Patrol Venus  Complete 6 Patrol missions on Venus.  +50 / +2,500

If you have five bounty slots available, then snatch up the last five today. I always like it when you combine a lot of bounties and work on all of them at one time, so today is a great day in that regard.

Crucible Bounties

Forged in Fire  Win 3 Crucible Matches. +100 / +5,000
Back Scratcher  Earn 50 Assists in the Crucible. +50 / +2,500
Never See You Coming  Defeat 10 Guardians from behind. +100 / +5,000
 Dominion  Complete 5 Control Matches. +100 / +5,000
Stopping Power  Earn 10 Buckshot Bruiser medals. +100 / +5,000
Electrocutioner  Earn 10 Fusion Rifle Sprees in the Crucible. +100 / +5,000

The Crucible playlist for today is Rumble.

Daily Heroic Mission: Shrine of Oryx

Location: Ocean of Storms, Moon

  • Search the darkest corners of the Hellmouth for the fabled Shrine and destroy it.

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

  • Cryptarch Engram
  • Vanguard Marks +5
  • +4800 XP (lvl 20) l +6000 XP (lvl 24) l +7500 XP (lvl 28)
  • Ascendant Material (lvl 24) l 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 28)

You’re going to want to avoid getting close to enemies here. I’d recommend sprinting past the first area where the Hive and the Fallen are fighting and jump over enemies with need be, if you want to get through it as quickly as possible. It’s just not necessary fight that battle.

Once through there though, you’ll come to an area where you’ll have to kill a Fallen Baron. He’s not really that difficult, but hit him and fast and hard with the most powerful stuff you’ve got (ideally doing arc damage to get his shield down quickly). He will teleport and hide if you take your time, and you don’t want that shield to be continuously getting put up. Don’t get too carried away on the Baron though, as there are stealth vandals here that are just waiting to one shot you thanks to the Lightswitch modifier.

After defeating the Baron, unless you just need the experience or don’t think you’re fast enough, sprint and jump your way through the rest of the mission. There isn’t another battle after the Baron that absolutely needs to be fought, so why fight unless you need to? If you go the sprint route, you still need to be aware of where the enemies are and jumping over them. There will be Dreg’s and of course Thrall’s that could be a problem. There’s also some knights, a wizard, and an orge.

Once you get past the orge, have a super, rocket, or machine gun ready. As you start to enter a little tunnel like area, a group of Thrall’s will rush at you and they’ll have a Knight behind them. You can’t really afford to get hit by any of these, so you’ll want to take them out and do so quickly.

Past that area, you’re home free. Take out the acolytes, activate the console, and wait for the large knight to appear. Pull out your best sniper rifle and shoot him in the face until he falls. There will be additional trash around enemy, and you’ll want to keep an eye on them and take them out when necessary. Don’t let them sneak up on you and melee you from behind. Sardok isn’t much of a threat really, as you can easily dodge his attacks, so shoot him in the face until he dies. Shouldn’t take long.

That’s going to do it for today Guardians. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the start of a new week in Destiny. We’ll be detailing the daily bounties, daily Heroic, and Weekly/Nightfall Strike. If you haven’t done this week’s Nightfall or Weekly Heroic, go get that done today.
