Destiny Daily 12/1/14: Daily Bounties, Last Day Before Weekly Reset, Countdown to The Dark Below, Patch 1.1 Details [UPDATED]

Destiny Daily

At some point today Destiny will be updated to patch 1.1. Nothing has been released about what the update contains or does yet, but I reckon it’s largely more getting us ready for The Dark below, which releases a week from tomorrow on December 9th. When the game gets updated and the patch notes drop, they’ll be included after the Daily Heroic part of this post. The Patch Notes section is already included, so I’ll just update it.

Today is the last day before the weekly reset. I won’t be doing the Nightfalls for the majority of this month (they’ll still be included in the daily posts each Tuesday though) as my PlayStation Plus membership expired yesterday. I won’t be renewing it until after Christmas, so unfortunately I’m locked out from doing the Nightfall and strikes in general. That really sucks considering I often did the Nightfall and Weekly solo anyway. I really don’t like that content that doesn’t use matchmaking has to be locked behind the PS+ online gate.

Moving on, here are the bounties for 12/1:

Vanguard Bounties

Walking Tall Complete any Strike without dying. +100 / +5,000
Fallen Leaders
Kill 10 Fallen Majors or Ultras.
+100 / +5,000
Vex Minds Kill 10 Vex Majors or Ultras. +100 / +5,000
Melee Kill 30 enemies without dying.
+50 / +2,500
TARGET: Banuk, Ur Prince
Defeat Banuk in the “Sword of Crota” mission on the Moon with the Heroic modifier active.
+50 / +2,500
Patrol Venus
Complete 6 Patrol missions on Venus.
+50 / +2,500

Like it when the Vex Minds one shows up. Seems to be the rarest one. Pretty good day for bounties overall. Fallen Leaders is easy, as is Knuckleduster, Banuk, and patrolling Venus. Walking Tall is easy as well, but again I don’t care about because I can’t do strikes.

Crucible Bounties

Shake the Pillars
Defeat 25 Titans in the Crucible.
+75 / +3,750
Never See You Coming
Defeat 10 Guardians from behind.
+100 / +5,000
Defeat 15 Guardians with headshots using a Sniper Rifle.
+100 / +5,000
Complete 5 Control Matches.
+100 / +5,000
Earn 10 Fusion Rifle Sprees in the Crucible.
+100 / +5,000
That’s How I Roll
Earn 5 Multikill medals.
+100 / +5,000

The Crucible playlist for today is Clash.

Daily Heroic Mission: Scourge of Winter

Location: Ishtar Sink, Venus

  • Hunt and kill Draksis, the House of Winter’s Kell, hiding deep in the caves of the Ishtar Sink.

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

  • Cryptarch Engram
  • Vanguard Marks +5
  • +4800 XP (lvl 20) l +6000 XP (lvl 24) l +7500 XP (lvl 28)
  • Ascendant Material (lvl 24) l 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 28)

Keep the enemies in front of you, which on this mission isn’t hard to do at all, and you should have zero trouble.  Take an Ice Breaker and when you first enter where the Kell is, stand on the rocks and snipe the enemies. They can’t shoot back at you because of the distance; you can clear the whole area in a couple of minutes, and be on your merry way.

For Draksis, I recommend standing in the door way and shooting his guards and other enemies while he is sitting on his throne. Don’t shoot him until you kill the others. Once you shoot him, and you should be using a sniper at this point, he’ll stand up and you’ll be able to get a few more shots off before he hides behind a pillar. Don’t move backwards of the door way, and don’t move forwards out of the doorway and then try to go back through it. You’ll end up being locked out of the room, or die by being crushed by the door, which will respawn you outside of the room and you’ll still be locked out, which will force you to run back outside the ship and jump over the edge. Just kill the enemies, enter the room, and let the door close behind you to trap you inside with the Draksis and the trash that spawns.

I say don’t worry about the other enemies (but keep moving/jumping, and I don’t let them melee you) and focus on Draksis. Machine gun or rocket launcher, hand cannon, and a sniper rifle if you’re quick enough and you should take him down quickly without issue.

UPDATE #2 (12:12 pm CT) –  The update is now live. I’m downloading it now and its going very slow on PS4. Here are the PATCH NOTES, courtesy of Bungie.

1.1 : The one about Exotics. And the Raid!
Today’s patch includes the long-awaited arrival of Exotics weapon buffs, additional acquisition paths for destination upgrade materials, along with additional changes to exotic gear node upgrading in preparation for the soon-to-be-released expansion, The Dark Below. We’re also correcting issues induced by our more recent update to the Raid.
Exotic Weapons are designed to look, feel, and sound overpowered. At the same time, they are not supposed to break the balance of the game. We hope these weapons challenge the way players think about their loadouts. Exotics will be a constant work in-progress!
  • In preparation for the Dark Below, Exotic Armor and Weapons no longer require Ascendant Materials to upgrade
  • The final upgrade node of all Exotic Gear will require an Exotic Shard
  • Exotic Shards can be obtained by one of the following means:
    • Dismantling unwanted Exotics
    • Purchased from Xur for 7 Strange Coins
  • Exotics now start at a higher base Attack value and have a narrowed upgrade range to compensate
  • Projectiles now briefly highlight targets on impact
  • Mark of the Devourer DoT (damage-over-time) upgrade increased against PvE enemy targets
  • Reload Speed increased
  • Magazine Size increased
  • Ammo inventory size increased
  • Stability and Weapon Handling increased
Bad Juju
  • Magazine Size increased to 8 bursts (was 5)
  • Ammo inventory size increased
  • String of Curses now also decreases the cooldown of your Super on kill
  • Adjusted effects to not block first person reticle
Hard Light
  • Stability increased
  • Perfect Balance upgrade replaced by Fitted Stock (increases maximum possible weapon Stability)
Suros Regime
  • Lowered total damage at the end of the mag on SUROS Regime upgrade to be more in line with the Glass Half Full perk on Legendary Auto Rifles
Monte Carlo
  • Stability increased
  • Range slightly decreased
  • Monte Carlo Method upgrade now also has a chance to fully charge melee ability on kill
MIDA Multi-Tool
  • MIDA rounds now have increased knockback against targets in both PvE and PvP
  • Send It upgrade (which was redundant) replaced by Speed Reload
Red Death
  • Rate of Fire increased slightly, but Burst Damage reduced to compensate
Plan C
  • Weapon Handling speed increased
  • Player Speed increased while Plan C is in hand
Pocket Infinity
  • Speed Reload upgrade replaced by Extended Clip which allows the option to increase magazine size (5 bursts)
Vex Mythoclast
  • Attack Power increased to 323 (from 300)
  • Base Damage increased, fixing bug we introduced in previous patch
  • Enhanced Battery upgrade by Extended Mag (this change still allows for a significant upgrade to Magazine Size, but less than before)
  • Reload Speed increased significantly, auto fires slightly slower
Ice Breaker
  • Send It upgrade replaced by Lightweight (which was redundant as Icebreaker already had maximum range)
  • New effects for enemies killed by Ice Breaker upgrade
Patience and Time
  • Snapshot upgrade replaced by Custom Optics (provides a lower zoom option)
Super Good Advice
  • Stability increased
  • Magazine Size increased to 3 (was 1)
  • Fixed an issue we introduced in a previous patch, in which Atheon did not correctly send 3 players through the time gates
  • Fixed an exploit where the Templar could be forced off its platform
Daily Heroic Story
  • Destination Materials now drop from completing the Daily Heroic
  • Removed the ‘Relic Hunter’ Bounty
  • Destination Materials now drop from completing the Daily Patrol Bounty
  • Reduced Cryptarch reputation gain from Engrams, but reputation reward packages now have an increased chance for Legendary Engrams
  • Players will now be able to use Vanguard Marks and Crucible Marks to purchase Spinmetal, Relic Iron, Spirit Bloom, and Helium Filaments from the Vanguard and Crucible Quartermasters in the Tower
  • Xur now sells a new material, Exotic Shards, to upgrade the final node of Exotics for 7 Strange Coins
  • Faction Class Items (ex: FWC Cloak, Dead Orbit Mark, etc.) are now replaced by Faction Emblems in the rank-up reward packages from Faction Vendors
  • Networking fixes, which should reduce the instance of the Bee family of KTOs
  • Fixed an issue in which using Xbox One party chat induced a slower frame rate

UPDATE #1 (11:54 am CT) –  Bungie says in the patch is inbound and should arrive before 1pm CT. This patch will see the buffs to some exotic weapons: Super Good Advice, Red Death, Pocket Infinity, Thorn, Suros Regime, Vex Mythoclast, and Bad Juju.

We’ll update against when the patch notes drops (and when the patch itself goes life, which should be within the hour).

That’s all for today Guardians. If you haven’t completed the Nightfall or Weekly yet, today is a good day to do it. After all, there’s a different one tomorrow.
