Destiny Daily 12/5/14: Xur Is Back With Plan C Once Again, Daily Bounties, Daily Heroic

Destiny Daily

It’s Friday, and that means Xur has arrived back in the Tower to peddle some exotic wares as we inch ever closer to the release of The Dark Below on Tuesday.

Xur’s exotics are up now, the daily bounties directly below it.

Xur’s Exotics

Helm of Inmost Light
Titan Helmet – “The light shines brightest in those it consumes.” 13 SC
Young Ahamkara’s Spine
Hunter Gauntlets – Give me your arm, oh bearer mine. Let me help you fill the world with teeth. 13 SC
Light Beyond Nemesis
Warlock Helmet – These are the wings of pratiya-samutpada, the truth of interconnectedness. The everywhere Light. 13 SC
Plan C
Fusion Rifle – Good fighters have contingency plans. Great fighters don’t need them. 17 SC
Exotic Shard A remnant that almost seems to have a life of its own. Can be used to unlock the full power of exotic gear. 7 SC

Xur can be found to the right when you get to the hangar, up against the balcony. I didn’t have the strange coins for anything, but I’m surprised that it was Plan C for the second week in a row. That sucks.

Daily Heroic Mission: The Garden’s Spire

Location: Meridian Bay, Mars

  • Seize control of the Black Garden Spire held behind the wall of the Cabal Warbase and wake the Gate Lord’s Eye.

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • ANGRY – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

  • Cryptarch Engram
  • Vanguard Marks +5
  • XP +4800 / +6000 / +7500
  • Ascendant Material (lvl 26) / 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 28)
  • Destination Materials +10 / +12 / +16

This is one of my favorite mission the game. Here you fight your way through a ton of Cabal to eventually kill Primus Sha’aull. It isn’t difficult, but there is a lot of enemies. The phalanx’s won’t drop their shield when you shoot their arm because of the angry modifier. I recommend using either a handcannon or high impact scout rifle, simply because each of their bullets tend to do more damage and it’s easier to consistently hit the arm than using an assault rifle.

When you get to the part where your Ghost tells you have to cross the bridge, hang back. There’s a lot of enemies that will be coming to you and one colossus that will hang back on top of a building. If you stay back towards the beginning of the bridge, the colossus won’t fire at you. After you dispose of the enemies coming towards you, use your best long range weapon (either a sniper or a scout) and aim for the head of the big guy.

After that, there’s a few pisons but they’re not a big deal. Make your way towards the spire, take the centurion out first and then the rest of the enemies and then wake the Gate Lord’s eye. After a few seconds, Sha’aull and some other enemies will come out of a big door on the other side of the map. Once Sha’aull gets out of his immune state and starts walking around, light him up with your highest impact bullets (or rockets, they work fantastic here). Kill him as quick as possible, because after a short time they’ll joined by more enemies including another colossus. If things start getting nasty, retreat down the hill to the building where the pisons were at. They won’t come down there, so wait, regroup, and then pick your shot.

That’s all for today Guardians. Remember, no Destiny Daily on the weekend (tomorrow is Conference Championship Saturday in college football, Roll Tide Roll!) so I’ll see you again Monday morning as we prepare for the changes that The Dark Below brings. If you bought anything from Xur today, let us know in the comments. Later Guardians!
