Destiny Daily 12/10/14: Daily Bounties, The Dark Below Thoughts (Non-Spoiler)

Destiny Daily

Well yesterday was a great day in Destiny. I had been saving up Ascendant Shard’s since I’ve had the gear I was fine with being a “Forever 29,” so I bought new arms and leg armor from the Hunter mentor, and did the three new story missions, some quests, some bounties, and some patrol plus farming on the Moon. I was able to pretty quickly completely upgrade both of them, and that FINALLY got me to light level 30. I also ranked up to 10 with the Vanguard and got their commendation currency. That allowed me to buy the chest piece; so now I’m well on my way to being a Forever 31. I also got the expansion legendary sniper rifle LDR 5001 (arc damage) from ranking up with the Vanguard.

I received two legendary engrams yesterday; one after completing the daily and one for completing the Weekly Heroic. Both of them turned into an expansion scoutfile; Another NITC and The Saterienne Rapier. I don’t really use scouts, but I’m not going to complain about getting new legendary weapons.

I have a 2 day trial of PS+ that I activated so I could play the strike and check out the raid (went in solo to grab a chest, got Radiant Shards and Radiant Engery). It took my brother and I just about an hour and a half to complete the Weekly Heroic. He was under-leveled at 29. I haven’t been able to tackle the Nightfall yet, but I have to do that today. Will of Crota is certainly a most difficult strike, even on heroic much less epic. It wouldn’t be so bad if it were Solar burn instead of Arc burn, as just about everything in that strike does arc damage.

As for the Dark Below itself, I like it. I wish you could replay the first mission of it, but having the other two there is nice after playing the other missions for three months. I would have preferred more missions given the cost (Undead Nightmare to me is still the benchmark of DLC), but strikes, raid, and new multiplayer maps is still pretty good all things considered.

We have a lot to get to today, so here are the bounties for 12/10:

Vanguard Bounties

BOUNTY DESCRIPTION + REP / + EXP
TARGET: Sepiks Prime

50 / 2500
Overcharge
Kill 2 enemies at once with a Fusion Rifle, 20 times.
50 / 2500
Patrol Cosmodrome
Complete 6 Patrol missions in the Cosmodrome.
50 / 2500

Look at all the 50 rep bounties. Come on Bungie; you make us need commendations to buy stuff now and then offer up measly 50 rep bounties.

Crucible Bounties

BOUNTY DESCRIPTION + REP / + EXP
Throw Down
Defeat 20 Guardians with your melee attack.
100 / 5,000
Ash and Dust
Defeat 15 Guardians with a Rocket Launcher.
50 / 2500
Headhunter

100 / 5,000
Target Practice
Earn 10 Dead Man’s Hand medals.
100 / 5,000

50 / 2500
Electrocutioner
Earn 10 Fusion Rifle Sprees in the Crucible.
100 / 5,000

The Crucible playlist for today is Skirmish.

Crota’s Bane Bounties

BOUNTY DESCRIPTION + REP / + EXP
Blades of Crota Hunt the Knights who serve as Blades of Crota on Earth and the Moon. (3) 75 / 3750
One of Us Kill Hive Majors and Ultras with any of Eris’ class items equipped. (10) 75 / 3750
Deadshot Collector Kill Hive with precision damage while under the effect of a Black Wax Idol. (50) 75 / 3750
Chase The Dark Kill Hive with the Axion Bolt. 75 / 3750

Well I guess tomorrow us Hunter’s will get a bounty, but in the meantime those other three don’t look too bad.

The Buried City

Meridian Bay, Mars

Description:

Clear out the Cabal occupying the lost city of Freehold and explore what remains.

Modifiers:

HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.

ANGRY – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP +4800 / +6000 / +7500

Ascendant Material (lvl 26) / +2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials +10 / +12 / +16

This one is pretty easy, just made frustrating by the angry modifier since the phalanx enemies won’t drop their shields.  You can actually skip a lot of it by just continuously running. If you’re need of Glimmer, pop a Resupply Code and kill everything.

That’s going to wrap us up for today Guardians. I’m still in the process of doing the daily video walkthroughs, but now at level 30, and writing out actual guides for each mission. But until that’s all completed, or a mission that it is already completed for shows up, I’ll continue with the way I’ve been doing it for months.

Did you run the Nightfall or Raid? If so, what did you get? Also, what do you think of The Dark Below content? Let us know in the comments below.

See you all tomorrow morning for our Xurday Eve edition of Destiny Daily.

  1. New Raid is really fun but tough as nails. Got through the first 2 sections and stuck on the third.

PS, why don’t you have a full PS+ sub?

  2. Just shards. =/

However, I need to go back to that first section–your note about soloing a chest made me look it up and my group totally missed that! Here’s hoping for some Raid gear!
