Destiny Daily 12/17/14: Daily Bounties, The Husk of the Pit Assault Rifle

Destiny Daily

Yesterday was a pretty good day for me in Destiny. I did the first two sections of the raid solo; I got some shards and the exotic rocket launcher Dragon’s Breath from the first chest. After traversing the abyss, I got some more shards and another pair of the raid gauntlets (which I dismantled for more shards). After crossing the bridge, I got some energy and the raid chest piece. So now I have three pieces of raid gear and upgraded helmet, so my getting to 32 is now just a matter of getting radiant shards (I used the only seven I had yesterday to level up my gloves once). Now I only need 56 more and I’ll be 32. So in March when the House of Wolves comes out and the level cap gets increased again, I’ll be just about to 32.

I did the Nightfall with my brother and I got an upgraded Knucklehead Radar (exotic hunter helmet). That’s great because I love that helmet and Xur didn’t have it to upgrade, so I sat it aside for the upgraded Symbiote. I love the fourth golden gun shot, but I’ve missed having the radar up at all times when aiming with a primary weapon. My bro got some legendary expansion pulse rifle that he’ll never use (and I don’t blame him).

I also ran the Fist of Crota a few times last night to kill the Blade of Crota, trying to farm for a Husk of the Pit. I got one, and then went to patrol on Earth and went the Rocketyard, and they started summoning a Blade there, so I killed it and it also awarded a Husk of the Pit. So now I have two of those. For those of you who don’t know, The Husk of the Pit is a common (white) level 10 assault rifle that looks like the Murmur fusion rifle. It has extremely high rate of fire, and extremely low impact. You can level it up once by killing 500 hive with it. Once you hit rank 3 with Eris, and you have killed 500 hive with it, you can buy the embalming orb and upgrade the weapon, where it will turn into the legendary Eidolon Ally. After you fully upgrade that version, you can run the hard version of Crota’s End in January and hope for a Crux of Crota drop that can be used to turn the weapon into the exotic known as Necrochasm. I think it’s pretty cool that you can get a common weapon and work it up to exotic. Bungie, you need more stuff like this, just without requiring a drop from a hard mode raid.

Here are the bounties for 12/17:

Vanguard Bounties

Walking Tall
Complete any Strike without dying.
100 / 5,000
Relic Harvest – Cosmodrome
Collect 200 Sensor Mites in Cosmodrome.
50 / 2500
It’s All in the Head
Kill 100 enemies with precision damage.
50 / 2500
Earn 9000 Experience without dying.
50 / 2500

Defeat Bracus Tha’aurn in “The Buried City” mission on Mars with the Heroic modifier active.
100 / 5,000
Patrol the Moon
Complete 6 Patrol missions on the Moon.
50 / 2500

I’d grab Relic Harvest, It’s All in the Head, and Unstoppable and then do the Daily Heroic. You won’t get a hundred headshots, but you’ll be on your way. Need more 100 rep bounties though, come on Bungie.

Crucible Bounties

Throw Down
Defeat 20 Guardians with your melee attack.
100 / 5,000
Pull the Pin
Defeat 20 Guardians with Grenades.
50 / 2500
All For One
Complete 5 Skirmish Matches.
50 / 2500
Stopping Power
Earn 10 Buckshot Bruiser medals.
100 / 5,000
Target Practice
Earn 10 Dead Man’s Hand medals.
100 / 5,000
Party’s Over
Earn 5 Enforcer medals.
100 / 5,000

The Crucible playlist for today is Clash. The Iron Banner is of course still raging. And apparently you don’t need The Dark Below to be able to do the Iron Banner, despite it listing it as The Dark Below content.

Crota’s Bane Bounties

Siege of the Warmind Defend Rasputin in the “Siege of the Warmind” mission on Earth with the Heroic modifier active 100 / 5000
Blades of Crota Hunt the Knights who serve as Blades of Crota on Earth and the Moon. (3) 75 / 3750
Out of Sight Kill Hive from behind. 75 / 3750
The Unseen While invisible, land the killing blow on a Hive Wizard with a sniper rifle. 75 / 3750

Siege of the Warmind is the Daily Heroic. Blades of Crota is now easy to do very quickly without having to compete with others. Just load up the “Fist of Crota” mission on Earth, run past the beginning, and kill the Blade of Crota. Go to orbit after killing him and repeat. This is also a very good way to farm for the Husk of the Pit.

What I like to do for The Unseen, and I’m sure there’s a quicker way within some mission, is load up Patrol on Earth. I head to the refinery past the Rocket Yards. Kill the servant to summon the Heart of Crota, kill her while invisible. Go through to the next area, go invisible and kill that wizard. Head to the left down to the caves in the Grottos, go invisible and kill the two wizards down there. Then head back to the Lunar Complex in the Mothyards, and kill that wizard (the first one you ever kill in the game). That’s five, and all of them except the Heart is low enough level where you can kill them in one shot. It takes about four minutes, and most of that is just getting to the first area, and then back to the last area.

Siege of the Warmind

Old Russia, Earth

Find Rasputin’s bunker. Defend it against the Hive attack.

HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.

Angry – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 7500

+2 Ascendant Materials

Destination Materials +16

This is one of The Dark Below story missions, so if you don’t have the DLC you can’t do the Daily Heroic today. It’s also only available in level 30 form. Grab the bounty from Eris.

I think this one is the hardest mission in the game. Getting to Rasputin is absolutely nothing. But once you stand in front of his controls and Omnigul spawns, things start to get chaotic. There’s a lot going on here and you need to be constantly aware of your surroundings. Thrall’s will rush you and there’s also the exploding thrall’s. Also acolytes, knights, and hallowed knights. But the biggest pain of all is the hallowed wizards who put the green circles on the ground that you definitely don’t want to get caught standing on. And finally, a big orge.

If you can, jump up on top of Rasputin, the big thing hanging above the arena. There’s a ghost up there anyway (there’s also a ghost under the controls as well). It’s hard to shoot things from up there, but it’s doable. It’s the safest approach. I like to get behind the controls though. You’re not safe there, by any means, but it’s the easiest area to defend yourself without having to worry about something spawning on you. Priority number one though is taking down the wizards as fast as possible, including Omnigul at the start (shoot her a few times in the head, and get her out of the way).

That’s all for today Guardians. Did you get anything good from the raids or the nightfall? Any legendary engrams? If so, let us know in the comments.

  1. “So in March when the House of Wolves comes out and the level cap gets increased again, I’ll be just about to 32.”

…in other words, we should all just wait so we can buy level 33 gear from Vanguard. =D
