Destiny Daily 12/24/14: The Scourge of Winter, Daily Bounties, and Merry Christmas

The House of Winter's Kell beckons Guardians; go kill Draksis.

Destiny Daily

Yesterday I ran the first two sections of the raid solo with my primary character. I got energy from the first chest, energy from traversing the abyss, and energy and chest armor for crossing the bridge. The chest armor dismantled into 2 radiant shards, so I was able to fully upgrade my raid gauntlets. I then did it solo on my second hunter; energy, energy, energy, energy. Later on I went through it again with my brother on my main character, and we were able to get the second chest, and from that I got two radiant shards. I now have three shards, and 36 energies. I need 39 more shards to hit level 32. On the plus side, I have the 18,000 glimmer and 36 Black Wax Idol’s that it will take me to turn those energies into shards with Eris. Unfortunately getting Eris to rank 4 is quite the tedious long grind, as you need 4,000 rep to go from rank three to four.

I ran the Nightfall and Weekly with my brother; I got a void fusion rifle called Final Rest II that actually looks pretty good (it has high everything except charge… and it’s still better than my Plug One.1.) and my brother got an assault rifle called Up For Anything. Afterwards, I ranked up with the Vanguard, and I got Up For Anything out of the package. I’m not a fan of low impact rifles, so it’s not for me.

Here are the bounties for 12/24:

Vanguard Bounties

I told you they’d have the bounty for completing the weekly or nightfall today. A great day to level up with the Vanguard, plus get a lot of experience for a weapon or gear.

Crota’s Bane Bounties

I currently have 1,313 rep with Eris at rank 3. I need 2,687 more to reach rank four. Ridiculous.

Scourge of Winter

Ishtar Sink, Venus

Hunt and kill Draksis, the House of Winter’s Kell, hiding deep in the caves of the Ishtar Sink.

HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.

LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 4800 / 6000 / 7500

+1 Ascendant Material (lvl 26) / 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials +10 / 12 / 16

Keep the enemies in front of you, which on this mission isn’t hard to do at all, and you should have zero trouble.  Take an Ice Breaker and when you first enter where the Kell is, stand on the rocks and snipe the enemies. They can’t shoot back at you because of the distance; you can clear the whole area in a couple of minutes, and be on your merry way.

For Draksis, I recommend standing in the door way and shooting his guards and other enemies while he is sitting on his throne. Don’t shoot him until you kill the others. Once you shoot him, and you should be using a sniper at this point, he’ll stand up and you’ll be able to get a few more shots off before he hides behind a pillar. Don’t move backwards out of the door way and then try to go back through it. You’ll end up being locked out of the room, or die by being crushed by the door, which will respawn you outside of the room and you’ll still be locked out, which will force you to run back outside the ship and jump over the edge. Just kill the enemies, enter the room, and let the door close behind you to trap you inside with the Draksis and the trash that spawns.

I say don’t worry about the other enemies (but keep moving/jumping, and don’t let them melee you) and focus on Draksis. Machine gun or rocket launcher, hand cannon, and a sniper rifle if you’re quick enough and you should take him down quickly without issue.

If you ran the raid or the Nightfall yesterday, let us know in the comments if you got anything good (or didn’t get anything good and want to rant about it). It’s Christmas Eve, so Merry Christmas to all. I may not do a Destiny Daily tomorrow morning, we’ll see. I’m leaning towards it, but I’ll have to see how much time I have. Be nice and helpful to all the new Guardians who will soon join us on Earth, the Moon, and beyond.
