Destiny Daily 12/29/14: Siege of the Warmind, Daily Bounties, Last Day Before Weekly Reset

Eyes up Guardian... Destiny Daily returns.

Destiny Daily

Welcome back Guardians; it’s the first Destiny Daily since Christmas Eve almost one week ago. That wasn’t by design of course. I woke up Christmas Day, turned on my PS4 to get ready to write the daily, and like everyone else couldn’t connect to PSN due to the DDoS attacks. Ditto for Friday, so missed the day we do the Xur update. Xur is still in the tower through tonight, so if you haven’t seen him yet make sure you head down stairs to check out his stock (he isn’t selling anything worth the coins, IMO).

As you’ve might’ve noticed, we’ve changed up the look of the site for 2015. And yes, I’m fully aware that our New Year change when live a few days before January 1st. I wanted to go ahead and get it out of the way. The only thing about the new design is that the post itself can no longer be full width, so the sidebar is going to have to be there. The good news though is that the post area is large enough to correctly display everything without the tables and whatnot being jumbled together. Let me know what you think of the new look.

Here are the bounties for 12/29:

I need 1,103 more rep to hit rank four, and thus hit level 32. I’ll pick up 300 and something today. So I’ll get it this week. You’ll get the One of Us bounty completed while doing The Wakening.

Siege of the Warmind

Old Russia, Earth

Description:

  • Find Rasputin’s bunker. Defend it against the Hive attack.

Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • ANGRY – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 7500

+2 Ascendant Materials

Destination Materials + 16

This is one of The Dark Below story missions, so if you don’t have the DLC you can’t do the Daily Heroic today. It’s also only available in level 30 form. Grab the bounty from Eris.

I think this one is the hardest mission in the game. Getting to Rasputin is absolutely nothing. But once you stand in front of his controls and Omnigul spawns, things start to get chaotic. There’s a lot going on here and you need to be constantly aware of your surroundings. Thrall’s will rush you and there’s also the exploding thrall’s. Also acolytes, knights, and hallowed knights. But the biggest pain of all is the hallowed wizards who put the green circles on the ground that you definitely don’t want to get caught standing on. And finally, a big orge.

If you can, jump up on top of Rasputin, the big thing hanging above the arena. There’s a ghost up there anyway (there’s also a ghost under the controls as well). It’s hard to shoot things from up there, but it’s doable. It’s the safest approach. I like to get behind the controls though. You’re not safe there, by any means, but it’s the easiest area to defend yourself without having to worry about something spawning on you. Priority number one though is taking down the wizards as fast as possible, including Omnigul at the start (shoot her a few times in the head, and get her out of the way).

Today is the last day to complete the Nightfall or do the Weekly Heroic if you haven’t done so. We’ll get new ones tomorrow, which is always exciting. Last night I solo’d the nightfall with my alt Hunter, and received an Exotic Shard (actually a Titan helm; I dismantled it). I also hit rank 47 with the Cryptarch, and surprise surprise received two legendary engrams from the package. One was pulse rifle that sucked and I dismantled, the other a fusion rifle called The Calming, and I’ll probably dismantle it as well since it isn’t as good as Murmur.

If you got any sweet loot since we  last day this, let me know in the comments below. Hope you all are being nice to the new folks who got the game for Christmas. Been a long time since I’ve seen so many level 2-6 characters running around Earth patrol, which low Grimoire scores.

That’s all for today Guardians. We’ll be back tomorrow with a look at the Nightfall and Weekly Heroic. My guess is Cerberus Vae III, but we’ll see.
