Destiny Daily 12/30/14: Kill The Will of Crota in This Week’s Nightfall, Daily Bounties, More

Destiny Daily

It’s Tuesday, and that means the world has been reset. This week our Weekly Heroic and Nightfall brings us back to Earth to kill The Will of Crota. You’ll need the DLC to do those events this week. Personally I’m surprised it wasn’t Cerberus Vae II or Winter’s Run. It’s been a LONG time since we’ve had either of those. I would have preferred either as well, because they’re easier. You can also get Marks again as well as loot from the Raids. As always, if you get anything good from doing anything, let us know about it in the comments. We always like to know when RNGesus blesses someone.

Here are the bounties for 12/30:

Vanguard Bounties

Fallen Leaders
Kill 10 Fallen Majors or Ultras.
100 / 5000
Cleansing Light
Rapidly kill 3 or more enemies with a single super use, 20 times.

At least they have The Bigger They Are bounty today and not tomorrow. Combine that with the Fallen Leaders bounty and run the Nightfall.

The World’s Grave

Ocean of Storms, Moon

Descend into the Hellmouth to a Hive library which holds ancient secrets they have ripped from Earth.

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the darkness deal much more melee damage.

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP +7500

+2 Ascendant Materials

Destination Materials +16

This one is a straight forward descent into the Hellmouth. As always, the lightswitch modifier needs you need to keep enemies (especially thrall’s) in front of you at all times. Depending on your level and the difficulty you select, you probably won’t die from one thrall hit, but why risk it? Just don’t let them get close.

It ends up in the small arena where you’ll have to survive the Hive while waiting for your Ghost to do what it’s doing. This means a few waves of thrall’s, cursed thrall’s, acolytes, wizards, and of course knights.

The Will of Crota

Old Russia, Earth

Omnigul, the mastermind of Crota’s armies, nests in the Cosmodrome. Eliminate this horror and purge its spawn.

Weekly Heroic Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • ANGRY – No ammo drops for your equipped weapons.

Weekly Heroic Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

Vanguard Marks 3 / 6 / 10

Vanguard Rep 150 / 250 / 400

XP 4800 / 6000 / 7500

Strange Coins 3 / 6 / 9

Nightfall Modifiers:

EPIC – Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers. .

JUGGLER – No ammo drops for your equipped weapons.

SOLAR BURN – Solar Damage from any source is greatly increased.

ANGRY – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

NIGHTFALL – If all players die, your Fireteam is returned to Orbit.

Nightfall Rewards:

Unknown Rewards

You’ll need The Dark Below expansion to run the Weekly/Nightfall this week.

This one is soloable, because I did it when it first released. But it’s a doozy. Thankfully, it’s Solar Burn, and most of the enemies won’t deal solar damage. There’s also no lightswitch, so you don’t have to be quite as cautious as last time. However, 99% of the enemies are going to have arc shields.

Hang back throughout. This strike is fairly long, and there are a TON of enemies. It’s best just to take it slow (on the Nightfall) and always be back.

It is possible to cheese Omnigul if you have a friend with you, and the video of that is below. I don’t know of any cheese for soloing it, so what I’d advise is just to stay in the first room, kill the enemies, watch out for exploding thrall spawning behind you, and run out and take pot shots at Omnigul when it’s safe.

Here’s a video from YouTube showing how to cheese it with two people:

Make sure you do the Nightfall before doing anything else (other than heading to the Tower to pick up a few bounties) so that you can get the buff for everything else you do this week. If you get a good loot drop, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

That’s all for today Guardians. See you all tomorrow morning.
