Destiny Daily 1/2/15: Xur Trolls With Dragon’s Breath, Daily Bounties

Destiny Daily

It’s Friday, and that means Xur has arrived in the tower once again to sell his exotic wares. Unfortunately, he didn’t bring the weapon myself and a ton of others want… although he did bring an exotic rocket launcher. That’s not the right one Xur, take it back! A short one today, so lets get right to it.

First up, Xur’s black market:

Xur’s Exotics

Exotic Item
DESCRIPTION Price
MK. 44 Stand Asides
Titan Legs – Pardon me. Coming through.
13 SC

Hunter Gauntlets – Amputated from a created that stumbled out of a Vex gate. A vestigial defensive reflex still remains.
13 SC

Warlock Gauntlets – 13.4 billion years ago, the first stars kindled out of darkness, seeding the future of all life.
13 SC
Dragon’s Breath
Rocket Launcher – Burn the world. Burn it all.
17 SC

A remnant that almost seems to have a life of its own. Can be used to unlock the full power of Exotic gear.
7 SC

Gauntlets – The Cryptarch in the Tower may be able to decrypt this object and reveal its contents. (Random class).
23 MOL

Xur can be found down stairs under the hangar, all the way in the back. Nothing for me this week. I bought the engram because I have nothing else to do with Motes. I got Dragon’s Breath from the raid chest weeks ago, and never use it. Darn it Xur, we wanted a Gjallarhorn.

These are the items that Xur has available to upgrade for the original item, 7000+ Glimmer, and an Exotic Shard:

  • Knucklehead Radar – Hunter Helmet
  • Achlyophage Symbiote – Hunter Helmet
  • Crest of Alpha Lupi – Titan Chest
  • The Armamentarium – Titan Chest
  • Apotheosis Veil – Warlock Helmet
  • Heart of the Praxic Fire – Warlock Chest
  • The Last Word – Handcannon
  • Universal Remote – Shotgun
  • Pocket Infinity – Fusion Rifle
  • Patience and Time – Sniper Rifle
  • Thunderlord – Machine Gun
  • Gjallarhorn – Rocket Launcher

You need to have the exotic that you wish to upgrade equipped. I may upgrade Patience and time, but that’s about it.

I’m at Max rank with Eris, but I’m still going to do these bounties for the experience.

Scourge of Winter

Ishtar Sink, Venus

Description:

Hunt and kill Draksis, the House of Winter’s Kell, hiding deep in the caves of the Ishtar Sink.

Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 4800 / 6000 / 7500

+1 Ascendant Material (lvl 26) 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials + 10 / 12 / 16

Keep the enemies in front of you, which on this mission isn’t hard to do at all, and you should have zero trouble.  Take an Ice Breaker and when you first enter where the Kell is, stand on the rocks and snipe the enemies. They can’t shoot back at you because of the distance; you can clear the whole area in a couple of minutes, and be on your merry way.

For Draksis, I recommend standing in the door way and shooting his guards and other enemies while he is sitting on his throne. Don’t shoot him until you kill the others. Once you shoot him, and you should be using a sniper at this point, he’ll stand up and you’ll be able to get a few more shots off before he hides behind a pillar. Don’t move backwards out of the door way and then try to go back through it. You’ll end up being locked out of the room, or die by being crushed by the door, which will respawn you outside of the room and you’ll still be locked out, which will force you to run back outside the ship and jump over the edge. Just kill the enemies, enter the room, and let the door close behind you to trap you inside with the Draksis and the trash that spawns.

I say don’t worry about the other enemies (but keep moving/jumping, and don’t let them melee you) and focus on Draksis. Machine gun or rocket launcher, hand cannon, and a sniper rifle if you’re quick enough and you should take him down quickly without issue.

That’s going to wrap up this week Guardians. Did you buy or upgrade anything from Xur? If so, let us know in the comments.

As always, no Destiny Daily on the weekends. I’ll be back Monday morning as we get ready for the world to reset on Tuesday.
