Destiny Daily 1/6/15: Confront Valus Ta’aurc In The Nightfall, Daily Bounties, More

Destiny Daily

It’s Tuesday, and that means the world has been reset. This week our Weekly Heroic and Nightfall brings us back to Mars to kill Valus Ta’aurc for the first time in a long time. I didn’t get to play too much yesterday before I was getting disconnected a lot. I’m pretty sure that was on my end and not on Bungies. Here’s hoping today is better; I certainly would be beyond mad if I make it to Valus Ta’aurc  and get kicked.

Here are the bounties for 1/6:

Vanguard Bounties

Walking Tall
Complete any Strike without dying.
100 / 5000
Relic Harvest – Moon
Collect 200 Impact Shards on the Moon.
50 / 2500
One For All
Achieve Gold Tier Rating in Public Events.
100 / 5000
Melee Kill 30 enemies without dying.
50 / 2500
TARGET: Grayliks, Winter Baron
Defeat Grayliks in “The Archive” mission on Venus with the Heroic modifier active.
100 / 5000
Patrol Cosmodrome
Complete 6 Patrol missions in the Cosmodrome.
50 / 2500 /10 SM

Of course they couldn’t have The Bigger They Are bounty today, that would make too much sense. All of these are quick, easy bounties though.

Crucible Bounties

Broken Scholar
Defeat 25 Warlocks in the Crucible.
75 /3750
In the Zone
Capture 10 Zones in Control.
50 / 2500
Forged in Fire
Win 3 Crucible Matches.
100 / 5000
Never See You Coming
Defeat 10 Guardians from behind.
100 / 5000
Ash and Dust
Defeat 15 Guardians with a Rocket Launcher.
50 / 2500
Stopping Power
Earn 10 Buckshot Bruiser medals.
100 / 5000

The Crucible playlist for today is Clash.

Crota’s Bane Bounties

The Will of Crota Exterminate Omingul and her spawn in the Will of Crota Strike on Earth. 100 / 5000
Blades of Crota Hunt the Knights who serve as Blades of Crota on Earth and the Moon. 75 / 3750
Hard Fall Rapidly kill 4 Hive with a heavy weapon. Death will reset your progress. 75 / 3750
Light The Dark Rapidly kill 10 Hive with Grenade abilities while under the effect of Radiance. 75 / 3750
The Cleansing Kill any Majors or Ultras in a Nightfall activity. 100 / 5000 / 3 MOL

All easy bounties. Don’t forget to grab The Cleansing before doing the Nightfall. I know some folks who forget all about Eris bounties and do the Nightfall without checking, thinking everything about her is mostly Hive related.

The Wakening

Ocean of Storms, Moon

Go to the Temple of Crota and destroy Crota’s soul.

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the darkness deal much more melee damage.

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP +7500

+2 Ascendant Materials

Destination Materials +16

This is one from The Dark Below, so of course you’ll need the DLC to be able to do today’s Heroic. It’s also only available on level 30.

This one isn’t difficult, however there are a ton of thralls and cursed thralls. They’re usually rushing towards you, so it’s fairly easy to keep them at a distance and pick them off (or eliminate an entire group of cursed thrall’s by shooting one of them. Just don’t let anything get close to you. That’s easy enough to do until you get to where the soul of Crota is at, and then it’s easy to let something come around and slap you.

You can’t stay up top and shoot the four knights and the four wizards, because an anti-cheese knight will spawn on you. Kill the four knights, stand just before the beginning of the walkway, and shoot the thrall’s that spawn. Then, using your best snipe rifle, shoot a wizard, kill it, and take aim at another wizard. The goal is to only have one wizard at a time flying around and shooting at you. If you come in guns blazing and rockets flying, you’ll have all of them active and then it gets much more chaotic.

Unload everything you’ve got on Crota’s Soul, but routinely stop aiming and scan your surroundings. There will be thralls, acolytes, and more knights; so keep an eye out for them.

Nightfall Rewards:

Unknown Rewards

The Weekly Heroic won’t be that bad, especially if you have an Ice Breaker (sorry, this one is going to be a bullet sponge and Juggler is active, so if you don’t have Ice Breaker buy some special weapon ammo and get out your best sniper). The Nightfall on the other hand could be a pain. There’s going to be a lot of shielded enemies, and this week there is no elemental damage modifiers, so things will be a tad more bullet spongey than usual. My advice would be to run as fast as you can through the first fight inside the building, because you don’t have to fight those guys. Use your sniper to pick off all the enemies from a distance and then work the tank over with the same strategy (and don’t get hit by the tank’s missile). Finally, when at Valus, hide under the steps and take shots at him and come up when you can.

Here’s a video from YouTube showing how to cheese it.

Make sure you do the Nightfall before doing anything else (other than heading to the Tower to pick up a few bounties) so that you can get the buff for everything else you do this week. If you get a good loot drop, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

That’s all for today Guardians. See you all tomorrow morning.
