Daily Destiny 1/12/15: Destroy Crota’s Soul Again, Daily Bounties, Crota Cheese Ends Tomorrow

Destiny Daily

Welcome back Guardians to the start of another week in Destiny. Tomorrow is the weekly world reset, and at some point tomorrow we’ll be getting the latest patch. You know the patch that will end the Crota cheese, make exotics that drop in the Vault be 331 capable, and adds three maps to the Control and Clash playlist (previously maps only available in the 3v3 modes). The Iron Banner almost starts up tomorrow. Of course we also get a new Nightfall and Weekly Heroic, my guess is Winter’s Run and hopefully not with Arc damage.

Here are the bounties for 1/12:

Vanguard Bounties

BOUNTY DESCRIPTION REP / EXP
Relic Harvest – Cosmodrome
Collect 200 Sensor Mites in Cosmodrome.
50 / 2500
It’s All in the Head
Kill 100 enemies with precision damage.
50 / 2500
One For All
Achieve Gold Tier Rating in Public Events.
100 / 5,000
Body Dropper
Kill 100 enemies without dying.
50 / 2500
The Bigger They Are
Complete a Weekly Heroic or Nightfall Strike.
100 / 5,000
Patrol the Moon
Complete 6 Patrol missions on the Moon.
50 / 2500

Really, The Bigger They Are? Every Tuesday thus far, Eris has had a bounty to kill majors or ultras in a Nightfall. And it stays available until you do it. Why can’t they just have The Bigger They Are be a bounty every Tuesday? Most definitely not a Monday. Going through the Weekly or Nightfall isn’t worth the small rep.

Crucible Bounties

BOUNTY DESCRIPTION REP / EXP
Never See You Coming
Defeat 10 Guardians from behind.
100 / 5,000
Pull the Pin
Defeat 20 Guardians with Grenades.
50 / 2500
Light the Way
Defeat 15 Guardians using a Super.
50 / 2500
Death or Glory
Complete 5 Clash Matches.
100 / 5,000
All For One
Complete 5 Skirmish Matches.
100 / 5,000
Electrocutioner
Earn 10 Fusion Rifle Sprees in the Crucible.
100 / 5,000

The Crucible playlist for today is Control.

I just started back playing the Crucible, outside of completing the Bad Juju or Thorn bounties. I want to finally hit rank three with the Crucible (they never sold anything I wanted; so I leveled up the factions instead) so that I can buy TFWPKY 1969. It’s almost the same as my trusty The Devil You Know, but with 331 attack. So I want to buy that and stick the TDYK in the vault.

Eris Morn Bounties

BOUNTY DESCRIPTION REP / EXP
Cut Them Down Kill Hive using a Blade’s sword on Earth. 75 / 3750
Deadshot Collector Kill Hive with precision damage while under the effect of a Black Wax Idol. 75 / 3750
Let’s Dance Rapidly kill 7 enemies with a melee attack. 75 / 3750
Cut to the Quick Rapidly kill 10 Hive with Arc Blade 75 / 3750

Take Cut Them Down and Let’s Dance, fire up Fist of Crota on Earth, jump around a little bit so the enemies get grouped up, and then smash them. Easily get both of those bounties within seconds of each other.

The Wakening

Ocean of Storms, Moon

Description:

  • Go to the Temple of Crota and destroy Crota’s soul.

Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the darkness deal much more melee damage.

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 7500

+2 Ascendant Materials Destination Materials +16

This is one from The Dark Below, so of course you’ll need the DLC to be able to do today’s Heroic. It’s also only available on level 30.

This one isn’t difficult, however there are a ton of thralls and cursed thralls. They’re usually rushing towards you, so it’s fairly easy to keep them at a distance and pick them off (or eliminate an entire group of cursed thrall’s by shooting one of them. Just don’t let anything get close to you. That’s easy enough to do until you get to where the soul of Crota is at, and then it’s easy to let something come around and slap you.

You can’t stay up top and shoot the four knights and the four wizards, because an anti-cheese knight will spawn on you. Kill the four knights, stand just before the beginning of the walkway, and shoot the thrall’s that spawn. Then, using your best snipe rifle, shoot a wizard, kill it, and take aim at another wizard. The goal is to only have one wizard at a time flying around and shooting at you. If you come in guns blazing and rockets flying, you’ll have all of them active and then it gets much more chaotic.

Unload everything you’ve got on Crota’s Soul, but routinely stop aiming and scan your surroundings. There will be thralls, acolytes, and more knights; so keep an eye out for them.

Over the weekend I defeated Crota three times using cheese for the final time; my two Hunter’s haven beaten him before so they only got energy. I don’t get the logic in having the chance to get loot from a RAID boss that is the same as something you can get at the very start of the raid. Whatever, salty because I wanted Black Hammer and two of the guys I went through it with got it. My Warlock got the shotgun and the ship. I’m not going to use the shotgun, but I certainly don’t mind having it.

Also went through the Vault up to the Gatekeeper part, and my only loot was a pair of gauntlets and some shards which obviously do me no good at level 32. No weapons.

So I didn’t have a very good weekend with the loot. The only legendary engram that I got turned into Titan boots, promptly dismantled. Hopefully you all better loot drop weekend.

That’s all for today. If you got any loot over the weekend, let us know.

See you all tomorrow morning for the Nightfall update, plus patch notes when they drop since I’m sure it’s going to do more than they listed in the weekly update. I don’t know when the patch will drop, but I’m going to guess it won’t be at the reset. So there might be a window of opportunity to do some cheese on Crota if you’re up when the reset happens.
