Destiny Daily 1/13/15: Head To The Devil’s Lair For Weekly Nightfall, Daily Bounties, Iron Banner, & More!

Destiny Daily

The Iron Banner has returned, report to Lord Saladin to get your bounties and whatnot. This week’s Weekly and Nightfall is The Devil’s Lair, which is surprising because I thought it was going to be Winter’s Run. Hopefully I can get something good as a reward on at least one of my three characters. You can once again earn Marks and get loot from the raids. Speaking of, you can still very much cheese the Bridge in Crota’s End (and the lamps for that matter). You only need one person to cross the bridge and stay alive. De-spawn everything on the starting side, send one person across, and everyone else get in elevated positions and snipe across the gap. Easy.

Here are the bounties for 1/13:

Crota’s Bane Bounties

BOUNTY DESCRIPTION + REP / + EXP
The Will of Crota Exterminate Omingul and her spawn in the Will of Crota Strike on Earth. 100 / 5000
Blades of Crota Hunt the Knights who serve as Blades of Crota on Earth and the Moon. 75 / 3750
Shine A Light Use a Solar or Arc ability to kill any enemy. 75 / 3750
Cut to the Quick Rapidly kill 10 Hive with Arc Blade. 75 / 3750
The Cleansing Kill any Majors or Ultras in a Nightfall activity. 100 / 5000 / 3 MOL

All easy bounties. Don’t forget to grab The Cleansing before doing the Nightfall. I know some folks who forget all about Eris bounties and do the Nightfall without checking, thinking everything about her is mostly Hive related. Don’t miss out on those three Motes of Light!

Exclusion Zone

Meridian Bay, Mars

Description:

Survive the military power of the Cabal and find the Gate to the Black Garden.

Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • ANGRY – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 4800 / 6000 / 7500

+1 Ascendant Material (lvl 26) 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials + 10 / 12 / 16

Don’t have to say much about this. This is the first story mission on Mars and takes less than 10 minutes. There’s a lot of Phalanx enemies here, and because of the Angry modifier they won’t flinch (i.e. they won’t put their shield down for you to get the easy head shot) and a lot of majors, but none of this is a problem. This one is super easy and straight forward. Kill all the enemies, hop on your sparrow, and turn on console. Quick and easy.

The Devil’s Lair

Old Russia, Earth

Description:

The Darkness gathers around Sepkis Prime as it absorbs the essence of everything the Fallen can steal.

Weekly Heroic Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

Weekly Heroic Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

Vanguard Marks 3 / 6 / 10

Vanguard Rep 150 / 250 / 400

XP 4800 / 6000 / 7500

Strange Coins 3 / 6 / 9

Nightfall Modifiers:

EPIC – Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers. .

Arc Burn – Arc Damage from any source is greatly increased.

LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

ANGRY – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

NIGHTFALL – If all players die, your Fireteam is returned to Orbit.

Nightfall Rewards:

This is a pretty easy strike usually, however this week you’re going to want to hang back as much as possible. When you first enter the area where you’re going to have to deploy your ghost, just wait a little bit and let the Fallen and the Hive fight each other. Then come in and mop up the rest. Once you deploy the ghost, head to the green cave to the left. Go down the bank just a little bit, and then turn back to where the enemies will be coming to. They can still shoot at you (the bank provides cover when you need it), but they won’t come to you. Pick off the enemies you can, quickly run out and take some shots at a Captain and draw their attention, and retreat. There will come a wave with a lot of stealth vandals. They’ll kill you in one hit. In this spot, they’ll never come to you and will instead stand around for you to easily kill. Once the Hive enters and begins fighting the Fallen, just sit back and watch. Let them fight and then mop up. Stay in this area until your Ghost says the door is open.

At the Devil Walker (I hope you have an Ice Breaker), head to the building on the far left as soon as you enter the battle ground. Jump up on top of it. Stay in the middle of the building and you shoot the Devil Walker and he’ll never shoot at you. Once he’s down, move up to the front of the building and snipe any enemy you see. Then quickly run up the left side path and out the doors to Sepiks Prime.

When the Sepiks Prime battle begins, head inside the building to the left. Stay inside it. You are relatively safe inside, however you can still be shot through the windows, so do what you’ve gotta do to take cover. Occasionally, you’ll have to run out (go inside the container, and have an Ice Breaker because there’s probably going to be a Fallen Shank there) to get a few shots off at Sepiks and try to get him to move to a location you can see him from the building.

It’s not difficult, it’s just going to be more time consuming than anything because every enemy but Sepiks Prime is going to be doing Arc damage.

Here’s a video from YouTube showing how to cheese it.

Make sure you do the Nightfall before doing anything else (other than heading to the Tower to pick up a few bounties) so that you can get the buff for everything else you do this week. If you get a good loot drop, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

That’s all for today Guardians. See you all tomorrow morning.

  1. I got a new void machine gun that I was excited to finally own, since I’ve been using my 300 The Swarm forever.

Did you see the new House of Wolves leak?

  2. How do you even do The Cleansing this week? There’s only like 2 Major/Ultra Hive’s in the Sepkis strike.
