Destiny Daily 1/19/15: Last Day of the Iron Banner, A Rising Tide on Mars, Daily Bounties

Destiny Daily

Welcome back Guardians. Hope you all had a great weekend. Today is the last day of the Iron Banner. I played the first two days of it, and then gave up on it. I’m just not a fan, and I wanted Timur’s Lash as well. Over the weekend I solo the first two sections of Crota’s End on my Warlock, and was lucky enough to get the boots to drop for clearing the bridge. So I bought 20 shards, and now my Warlock is also level 32, so now I have two characters at the max level. Which by the way means absolutely nothing.

Tomorrow is the weekly world reset. New Nightfall and Weekly Heroic, new chances at raid loot, and more Marks to earn (although I have to admit this is the first week where I haven’t hit the limit on Vanguard Marks… I’ve been playing Dragon Age Inquisition). Of course a patch comes out tomorrow that will pave the way for Crota’s End Hard Mode, which drops on Wednesday at 12pm CT.

Here are the bounties for 1/19:

Vanguard Bounties

TARGET: Sekrion
Defeat Nexus Mind Sekrion in the “Nexus” Strike on Venus.
50 / 2500
One For All
Achieve Gold Tier Rating in Public Events.
100 / 5000
Exalted Hive
Kill 10 Hive Majors or Ultras.
100 / 5000
Body Dropper
Kill 100 enemies without dying.
50 / 2500
TARGET: Merok, Eir Prince
Defeat Merok in the “Sword of Crota” mission on the Moon with the Heroic modifier active.
100 / 5000
Patrol the Moon
Complete 6 Patrol missions on the Moon.
50 / 2500

Some good, easy bounties in here. I do get tired of that One For All bounty though. At least Cleansing Light isn’t one of them.

Crucible Bounties

Broken Scholar
Defeat 25 Warlocks in the Crucible.
75 / 3750
Light the Way
Defeat 15 Guardians using a Super.
100 / 5000
Stay Golden
Complete 5 Rumble Matches.
100 / 5000
No Riding Zone
Defeat 10 Guardians on Vehicles.
100 / 5000
Party’s Over
Earn 5 Enforcer medals.
100 / 5000
Earn 5 Postmortem medals.
100 / 5000

The Crucible playlist for today is Skirmish.

Here are the bounties available for the Iron Banner; today is the last day:

  • Hard Forged – Earn 10000 XP while competing in the Iron Banner tournament.
  • Iron Embrace – Defeat 10 Guardians with a close quarters Melee attack while competing in the Iron Banner.
  • Iron Wrath – Defeat 10 Guardians without dying while competing in the Iron Banner tournament.
  • Focused Aggression – Defeat 20 Guardians with Auto Rifle headshots while competing in the Iron Banner.
  • Exacting Measures – Earn 5 Headshot Sprees while competing in the Iron Banner.
  • The Chaos and the Calm – Defeat 10 Guardians with Machine Gun headshots while competing in the Iron Banner.

Crota’s Bane Bounties

Cut Them Down
Kill Hive using a Blade’s sword on Earth. 75 / 3750
Hard Fall
Rapidly kill 4 Hive with a heavy weapon. Death will reset your progress. 75 / 3750
Shine A Light Use a Solar or Arc ability to kill any enemy. 75 / 3750
Kill Hive Wizards with Shoulder Charge. 75 / 3750

Easy enough.

A Rising Tide

Meridian Bay, Mars

Find and destroy the source of the Vex surging to protect the Black Garden.

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • JUGGLER – No ammo drops for your equipped weapon.

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 4800 / 6000 / 7500

+1 Ascendant Material (lvl 26) 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials + 10 / 12 / 16

This is the mission where you go into the subway station on Mars and kill a lot of Vex. You should bring a good sniper rife, preferably Ice Breaker (because of the Juggler modifier), to take down the transport/time gates quickly. Not hard at all.

Tomorrow is the world reset, so I get to be disappointed after running the Nightfall three times. Also a chance to replenish your Strange Coins via the Weekly Heroic if you spent a lot of them on Ice Breaker’s this weekend.

See you all tomorrow morning for the weekly reset; the Nightfall guide. Where we always encourage cheesing.

  1. Cheesing is great. I don’t know why some people have a problem with it. Destiny doesn’t respect me and my time, why should I respect it?

    • I agree completely. I hate hearing folks who have their serious teams and whine about what other folks do. “Shouldn’t be able to do a nightfall solo.” “Need to patch the cheese spots.” “You’re not respecting the developers; they didn’t intend for it to be played that way.”

Bunch of nonsense. I don’t cheese when doing Roc strikes, but for the Weekly and Nightfall, I’m cheesing it. Whether I do it by myself or with friends, it’s going be cheesed as much as possible, especially the Nightfall. The folks who say otherwise are the same elitist who think they “earned” their weapons because they got lucky with RNG.

Outside of completing an exotic bounty (which itself is random), no one ever earned anything playing this game. Lucky random drops is all it is. If the Nightfall is going to troll me each week with Ascendant Shards or Strange Coins, then I’m going to cheese it.

It’s like all those folks who complain about the raids being cheesed. If you don’t want to cheese it, find a group who doesn’t want to cheese it and play with them. Those of us who want to cheese aren’t hurting anyone and should be able to play how we want.
