Destiny Daily 1/20/15: Head Into The Summoning Pits For the Nightfall, Daily Bounties

Destiny Daily

Apologies for the delay today. It’s Tuesday once again, and that can only mean the Destiny weekly world reset. We have a new Nightfall and Weekly Heroic with which to try and get lucky with a loot drop. This time we’re heading back to the Moon to kill Phogoth once again. Meanwhile Aksor sits on Venus thankful for another week that he gets to live. Hopefully you all get some good stuff this week. Don’t want anyone getting shards, energies, strange coins (unless you want them), or legendary engrams that decrypt into two measly ascendant materials. I’m going to be positive and visualize all of us getting good stuff this week to make the time spent worth it.

Here are the bounties for 1/20:

All easy bounties. Don’t forget to grab The Cleansing before doing the Nightfall. Don’t miss out on those three Motes of Light!

The Last Array

Old Russia, Earth

Description:

Track down codes to raise an ancient Array and connect it to long-lost colonies throughout the solar system.

Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • ANGRY – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 4800 / 6000 / 7500

+1 Ascendant Material (lvl 26) 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials + 10 / 12 / 16

Today’s Heroic is an easy one (aren’t they all?). There’s no lightswitch or juggler modifier to worry about, and in my opinion the Angry modifier really only makes things a tad more annoying if you’re fighting the Cabal. So it’s a complete non-factor on any mission outside of Mars, to me anyway… you may disagree.

For this, speed your way through the Mothyards to get to Skywatch. Kill vandals to look for a ghost that still has the key. If you used to like to shoot in the old loot cave, make sure to run inside it and disturb the remains and reminisce about standing on that hill and shooting into that cave.

You’ll make your way through some Fallen, and once outside the building you’ll have to deal with some Vandal’s and a Captain. Then more Vandal’s and another Captain. Snipe them, or use a hand cannon, and they’ll all go down quickly. Then it’s just a matter of killing a few waves of Hive. Lots of Thrall’s and Acolytes, but also a few Knights and a couple of Wizards. Nothing all that difficult.

The Summoning Pits

Ocean of Storms, Moon

Description:

Deep within the Hellmouth, the Hive are breeding powerful abominations to unleash upon the Earth. Find the pit where they live and stop any new horrors from rising.

Weekly Heroic Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • ARC BURN – Arc Damage from any source is greatly increased.

Weekly Heroic Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

Vanguard Marks 3 / 6 / 10

Vanguard Rep 150 / 250 / 400

XP 4800 / 6000 / 7500

Strange Coins 3 / 6 / 9

Nightfall Modifiers:

EPIC – Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers. .

ARC BURN – Arc Damage from any source is greatly increased.

LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

ANGRY – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.

NIGHTFALL – If all players die, your Fireteam is returned to Orbit.

Nightfall Rewards:

Unknown Rewards

This is one of the easier strikes. The hardest part of this strike is waiting on your Ghost to open the door while you fight off waves of enemies. Those waves include lots of Knights, and even worse major wizards. Bring your best sniper rifle. You have to be extremely careful during this Nightfall (and Heroic), especially when waiting on the door to open. The Knights and Wizards all do Arc damage. You can survive one hit, but you won’t survive two. Take your shots and move.

Killing Phogoth isn’t hard. Just cheese it by staying behind the door to the room you have to enter to even get to Phogoth. Run out, take shots at him, and then quickly retreat back out of that room and get back behind the door. You can’t just stay in that room, because if you do you’re going to spawn a Shrieker. So just run through the room, get some shots off, and quickly get back. Stand behind the door, take a few sniper shots at Phogoth, and then when he gets back out of sight, rinse and repeat.

Here’s a video from YouTube showing how to cheese it.

Make sure you do the Nightfall before doing anything else (other than heading to the Tower to pick up a few bounties) so that you can get the buff for everything else you do this week. If you get a good loot drop, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

That’s all for today Guardians. See you all tomorrow morning.
