Destiny Daily 1/23/15: Xur Sells Garbage, Answer A Stranger’s Call, Daily Bounties

Destiny Daily

It’s Friday, and that means Xur has arrived in the tower once again to sell his exotic wares. And of course he brought garbage. No Land Beyond… seriously?

Not going to waste anymore time, so let’s get right to it. First up, Xur’s black market:

Xur’s Exotics

  • Mk. 44 Stand Asides – Titan Legs
    • Strength 120
  • Radiant Dance Machines – Hunter Legs
    • Strength 147
  • Starfire Protocol – Warlock Chest
    • Intellect 137
  • No Land Beyond – Sniper Rifle
  • Exotic Shard
  • Exotic Helmet Engram

  • Machine Gun Telemetry
  • Rocket Launcher Telemetry
  • Shotgun Telemetry
  • Plasma Drive
  • Emerald Coil

Xur can be found down stairs to the right of the Vanguard Mentors. He’s pretty much selling garbage this time. Only buy No Land Beyond if you want to collect every Exotic; it’s both a waste of a primary weapon and an exotic if you have it equipped. I bought me a pack of Rocket Launcher Telemetry, just so when I finally get the Gjallarhorn (whenever that may be) I can upgrade it fast. I also bought three engrams, because what else am I going to use Motes for? My first one rolled ATS/8 Arachnid Hunter helmet, and that’s what I was hoping for. The next two were Warlock helmets Obsidian Mind and Light Beyond Nemesis.

These are the items that Xur has available to upgrade for the original item, 7000+ Glimmer, and an Exotic Shard:

  • Achylophage Symbiote – Hunter Helmet
    • Discipline 97
  • Knucklehead Radar – Hunter Helmet
    • Strength 118
  • Helm of Inmost Light – Titan Helmet
    • Strength 105
  • Crest of Alpha Lupi – Titan Chest
    • Intellect 144
  • Sunbreakers – Warlock Gauntlets
    • Intellect 107
  • Light Beyond Nemesis – Warlock Helmet
    • Strength 92
  • Bad Juju – Pulse Rifle
  • Invective – Shotgun
  • Universal Remote – Shotgun
  • Truth – Rocket Launcher
  • Thunderlord – Machine Gun
  • Gjallarhorn – Rocket Launcher
  • Hawkmoon – Hand Cannon (PS Exclusive)

Man it bums me out to see Gjallarhorn every week and now Hawkmoon. The two guns I want more than any other, and haven’t dropped for me after more than 730 hours playing this game.

XP + 4800 / 6000 / 7500

+1 Ascendant Material (lvl 26) 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials + 10 / 12 / 16

This is one pretty straight forward, but I think is one of the more difficult missions in the game. After getting your sparrow turned on and activating the vex detector, head to the academy and check out the conflux. Quickly get to the top balcony (no enemies will spawn up there) and get ready for a Vex onslaught. The goblins of course are nothing, but there’s hobglobins and a lot of minotaurs as the waves progress.

Use your highest impact weapons, and rocket launchers (preferably void, but anything will do) and bring some ammo packs. The Juggler modifier will make ammo get low, and especially during the later waves, jumping down to where the enemies are to pick up ammo could easily result in death. Once you’re down there, you’re down there to stay… because you aren’t likely to get back to that top balcony unless you’re really fast and really good with the jump.

So, what did you buy from Xur, if anything?

As always, no Destiny Daily during the weekend, so I’ll see you all Monday morning.
