The Archive

Ishtar Sink, Venus

Description:

Find the Collective’s lost Archive, sealed for centuries, in a vault deep beneath the Ishtar Academy.

Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • LIGHTSWITCH – Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 4800 / 6000 / 7500

+1 Ascendant Material (lvl 26) 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials + 10 / 12 / 16

This is one mission that can give you fits, and it’s all because of the lightswitch modifier. This one has numerous stealth sword swinging vandals, and they will hunt you down. You need to constantly be aware of your surroundings. Unless you have a primary weapon or helmet that keeps the radar are up, you need to be aiming and exiting quickly. Sometimes its a one hit kill, sometimes you can survive being hit once. Don’t risk it; play smart and avoid being hit.

Once you get the servitors off the two nodes, you’ll have to kill a baron. He loves to hide behind cover the moment you shoot at him. Take out the trash around him and then face him on the ground. Ideally you want to stagger him; if you get close he’ll melee you and that’s a one hit kill.

It’s not a hard mission, but because of the modifier, it can be one of the more annoying ones.

The Will of Crota

Old Russia, Earth

Description:

  • Omnigul, the mastermind of Crota’s armies, nests in the Cosmodrome. Eliminate this horror and purge its spawn.

Weekly Heroic Modifiers:

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • SOLAR BURN – Solar Damage from any source is greatly increased.

Weekly Heroic Rewards:

Cryptarch Engram

Vanguard Marks 3 / 6 / 10

Vanguard Rep 150 / 250 / 400

XP 4800 / 6000 / 7500

Strange Coins 3 / 6 / 9

Nightfall Modifiers:

EPIC – Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers. .

ARC BURN – Arc Damage from any source is greatly increased.

SOLAR BURN – Solar Damage from any source is greatly increased.

VOID BURN – Void Damage from any source is greatly increased.

NIGHTFALL – If all players die, your Fireteam is returned to Orbit.

Nightfall Rewards:

Unknown Rewards

You’ll need The Dark Below expansion to run the Weekly/Nightfall this week.

This one is soloable, because I did it when it first released. But it’s a doozy. Thankfully, it’s TRIPLE Burn, and most of the enemies only deal Arc damage.

Hang back throughout. This strike is fairly long, and there are a TON of enemies. It’s best just to take it slow (on the Nightfall) and always be back.

It is possible to cheese Omnigul if you have a friend with you, and the video of that is below. I don’t know of any cheese for soloing it, so what I’d advise is just to stay in the first room, kill the enemies, watch out for exploding thrall spawning behind you, and run out and take pot shots at Omnigul when it’s safe.

Here’s a video from YouTube showing how to cheese it with two people:

Make sure you do the Nightfall before doing anything else (other than heading to the Tower to pick up a few bounties) so that you can get the buff for everything else you do this week. If you get a good loot drop, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

That’s all for today Guardians. See you all tomorrow morning.

  1. I finally hit level 32 last night! A big deal for me since I only have 1 character. I joined a random group that beat Crota on Hard on the first time, no wipes. Got the Word of Crota which looks pretty cool. Not sure what to do now besides just wait until House of Wolves, I guess.

    • Congrats on both hitting 32 and getting the Word of Crota. I’m a big hand cannon guy, so I’d love to have that (but I still can’t even get Black Hammer to drop from Normal). Start a second character and grind it out to 32. I deleted my 31 alt Hunter to start a Titan (which I used to have but deleted), just to have one of each again.

  2. I guess you can Help others with Crota’s End Raid to reach level 32, like myself, I’m at lvl 31.6 Warlock and need alot of Radiant Shards. PS3 – PSN: KRIPTIKON. thanx

    • Funny you should mention that, I actually learned how to do the sword last night on Normal since I was the only 32. It was really fun! I would add you, but I play on ps4.
