Destiny Daily 2/2/15: Head Into The Dark Beyond, Daily Bounties, World Resets Tomorrow

Destiny Daily

Welcome back Guardians to the beginning of a new week of Destiny Daily content. I hope you all had a great weekend, as I did.  Today sees the return of the Loot Drop section, right after the Daily Heroic Guide. I did some raiding and got some gear, and you can read all about it in the Loot Drop. Tomorrow of course sees the weekly world reset, and that means a new Nightfall to conquer and hopefully earn some sweet loot for. I imagine it will be The Nexus, but I really hope to see Winter’s Run show up again. It’s been far too long since we’ve had that one.

It’s now February 2nd, if you can believe that. We’re almost two months removed from the release of The Dark Below. In fact, if the rumors are to be believed, we’re just a little over a month away from the March 10th release of The House of Wolves. So I’d imagine we’ll start hearing a little bit about House of Wolves later this month. Personally I’m hoping they bring back Queen’s Wrath sometime before the House of Wolves releases, but of course I’m not counting on it.

Moving onwards, here are the bounties for 2/2:

I don’t recall this one popping up since November, so it’s been awhile.

This is the first story mission on the moon, the one with the “we’ve woken the hive” line. There’s only one way this mission would ever be somewhat difficult, and that’s with the lightswitch modifier. Thankfully that modifier isn’t active, so you shouldn’t have any trouble. Shoot a rocket in the door just as they’re all coming out, toss a grenade, and that should take out a lot of them.

Shoot the wizard with an sniper rifle a few times (or use your super depending on what class you are), collect the ghost, and it’s mission over. Not hard, and not long.

It’s the return of the loot drop; man has it been a while since I had enough quality loot to even do this section.

Friday night I ran the Vault of Glass (normal) and Crota’s End (normal) with my brother, with TVE staff member The Monkey, and two of his buddies (plus another guy for the Vault). It was the first time all of us have done the entire Vault of Glass (I had joined people on my friends list at the Atheon checkpoint  before when they needed help), and it was also the first time we all beat Crota legit (and for one member, first time period).

I did not get the Black Hammer, but I can’t really complain. From the Vault, I finally got Vision of Confluence and Corrective Measure, plus the Chatterwhite shader and the Hunter cloak. I didn’t get anything from the first two sections of Crota because I had already done them on hard. From the Deathsinger I got the exotic shotgun The 4th Horsemen. For beating Crota (which is super fun as the sword carrier; my first time doing it legit as the sword carrier… I had carried the sword a few times when the infinite kneel glitch was around), I got another Swordbreaker shotgun and another Suros Regime.

For the elitist out there; we cheesed the bridge. It saved time, and only one of us was going to get a loot drop anyway.

Before we ventured out into the raids, I spent about an hour running the Roc playlist with one of the guys while we waited for everyone else to get on. I got a legendary heavy weapon engram as a reward for the first strike we did. Before we started the raid, we returned to the Tower to decrypt our engrams. My legendary engram turned into an exotic rocket launcher. It was… not the Gjallarhorn. Instead it was Truth, which I had already had. But on the bright side, I never bothered to upgrade Truth, so I dismantled my old 300 one kept the shiny new 331 one.

There were six of us for the Vault and five of us for Crota. For the five of us that did Crota, it was the first time we had ever ran through the entirety of the Vault of Glass. Another person randomly joined us from the friends list before we even got started, and he had done plenty of times, but for the rest of us it was our first time all the way through. I think we did pretty well. We cleared it in one hour and 31 minutes. I don’t think that’s bad for a first time through. And that’s with wiping quite a few times at the Templar and taking a little bit to get everyone through the jumping puzzle. Plus it took a couple of wipes at the Gatekeepers and a few more at Atheon. It also took one hour and 31 minutes to do Crota, most of which was spent on clearing adds at the Deathsinger and wiping on Crota several times (and we did have to go through two sets of Ogres and almost hit enraged on the run where we finally downed Crota). Again, I don’t think that’s bad for first timers doing it legit (and for one guy, a level 29, doing it at all).

That’s all for today fellow Guardians. Check back tomorrow morning for our Nightfall guide. I really hope it isn’t The Nexus, but that’s my guess. Whatever it is, hopefully those of us who haven’t been getting anything decent for doing Nightfall’s this week. Speaking of which, if you had anything good drop for you over the weekend, do let us know in the comments below.

  1. I ran Crota on Normal from beginning to end for the first time this weekend. 3 Radiant Energies, 5 Radiant Shards. No armour or weapons drops. Epic fail.

  2. Also did VoG Hard Mode all the way through, got the Hunter chest piece twice, the rest was Shards. Not even CLOSE to the Fatebringer I wanted.
