Destiny Daily 2/3/15: Winter’s Run Is Finally The Nightfall Again, Daily Bounties

Destiny Daily

It’s time once again for a weekly reset. The Nightfall is FINALLY Winter’s Run again. It’s one of my favorite strikes (it’s also pretty easy and pretty quick), and it’s been quite some time since it has showed up in the rotation. This is one of The Dark Below story missions, so if you don’t have the DLC you can’t do the Daily Heroic today. It’s also only available in level 30 form.

I think this one is the hardest mission in the game. Getting to Rasputin is absolutely nothing. But once you stand in front of his controls and Omnigul spawns, things start to get chaotic. There’s a lot going on here and you need to be constantly aware of your surroundings. Thrall’s will rush you and there’s also the exploding thrall’s. Also acolytes, knights, and hallowed knights. But the biggest pain of all is the hallowed wizards who put the green circles on the ground that you definitely don’t want to get caught standing on. And finally, a big ogre.

If you can, jump up on top of Rasputin, the big thing hanging above the arena. There’s a ghost up there anyway (there’s also a ghost under the controls as well). It’s hard to shoot things from up there, but it’s doable. It’s the safest approach. I like to get behind the controls though. You’re not safe there, by any means, but it’s the easiest area to defend yourself without having to worry about something spawning on you. Priority number one though is taking down the wizards as fast as possible, including Omnigul at the start (shoot her a few times in the head, and get her out of the way).

Winter’s Run

Ishtar Sink, Venus

This strike, a favorite of mine, hasn’t been the Nightfall/Weekly since November 11th! And for the second straight week, it’s triple burn! That means no Lightswitch modifier, which is fantastic news for this particular strike because it does have a lot of stealth vandals.

Inside the caves, you can sit down and let the Vex and Fallen fight each other. Wait a few minutes and then head on through to mop up. At the first encounter that you have to do, the waves where you’re waiting on your ghost to open a door, just  stay on the (and run back to after putting the ghost on the door) the high rocks in the beginning of the room. Pull out an Ice Breaker if you have it and snipe all the enemies. They won’t be able to hit you.

On the next part, ride the Pike but jump off when you can see the three Hobgoblins. Snipe them from a far enough distance where they can’t shoot back. After you down them, go to where they were at and snipe some more goblins, hobgoblins, and four yellow barred Minotaurs. On the other side of the rocks are harpies. On down, you can snipe the Minds from a distance and they won’t be able to shoot back at you. Don’t forget about all the goblins and hobgoblins on the ledge above and to the right of where you enter. You don’t have to kill those, just don’t stand where they can shoot you.

For the Archon Priest area, just hug the entrance. Run down, take shots at him, and QUICKLY get away and back up to where you first drop down from. Rinse and repeat. And when the drop ship starts come in, run and hide, because trust me it will kill you in one shot. You want to be quick with your escapes while fighting the Priest. It’s a bit of slow procress, but is largely safe provided your are fast.

Here’s a video from YouTube showing how to cheese it.

Make sure you do the Nightfall before doing anything else (other than heading to the Tower to pick up a few bounties) so that you can get the buff for everything else you do this week. If you get a good loot drop, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

That’s all for today Guardians. See you all tomorrow morning.
