Destiny Daily 2/6/15: Surprise… Xur Is Selling Garbage Once Again, Wield the Sword of Crota

Destiny Daily

It’s Friday, and that means Xur has arrived in the tower once again to sell his exotic wares. Did he bring anything that I wanted? Of course not. Did he bring something you wanted? Probably not, but maybe. Same intro as last week? Absolutely. It’s what happens when Xur continues to disappoint. He’s about as useless now as every other vendor in the game.  If he ever sells the Gjallarhorn again, I’m going to buy five. So each of my three characters can have,  one in case they ever let us have a fourth character, and one to dismantle for satisfaction.

Not going to waste anymore time, so let’s get right to it. First up, Xur’s black market:

Xur’s Exotics

  • The Glasshouse – Titan Helmet
    • Intellect 127
  • Don’t Touch Me – Hunter Gauntlets
    • Discipline 111
  • Sunbreakers – Warlock Gauntlets
    • Intellect 105
  • Plan C – Fusion Rifle
  • Exotic Shard
  • Exotic Gauntlet Engram

  • Hand Cannon Telemetry
  • Shotgun Telemetry
  • Rocket Launcher Telemetry
  • Plasma Drive
  • Void Drive

Xur can be found in the Tower Hanger, to the right up against the balcony. He’s pretty much selling garbage again this time. I bought The Glass House for my Titan, just because it’s going to need an exotic helmet. If I ever get Helm of Saint 14, Glasshouse will be sharded.

These are the items that Xur has available to upgrade for the original item, 7000+ Glimmer, and an Exotic Shard:

  • Achlyophage Symbiote – Hunter Helmet
    • Intellect 119
  • Crest of Alpha Lupi – Hunter Chest
    • Strength 166
  • An Insurmountable Skullfort – Titan Helmet
    • Discipline 106
  • No Backup Plans – Titan Gauntlets
    • Strength 82
  • Light Beyond Nemesis – Warlock Helmet
    • Strength 107
  • Skull of Dire Ahamkara– Warlock Helmet
    • Intellect 101
  • Hard Light – Assault Rifle
  • SUROS Regime – Assault Rifle
  • MIDA Multi-Tool – Scout Rifle
  • Thorn – Hand Cannon
  • Ice Breaker – Sniper Rifle
  • Super Good Advice – Machine Gun

Just a heads up, this is the last week that I’ll be including the upgrades available… unless there’s enough of you reading who are still trying to upgrade old gear and want it to stay.

Here are the bounties for 2/6:

  • Infiltrate the Hive Fortress and destroy the legendary Sword of Crota, a weapon once used to slay thousands of Guardians.

  • HEROIC – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • JUGGLER – No ammo drop for your equipped weapon.

Cryptarch Engram

+5 Vanguard Marks

XP + 4800 / 6000 / 7500

+1 Ascendant Material (lvl 26) 2 Ascendant Materials (lvl 30)

Destination Materials + 10 / 12 / 16

This is a really easy mission and you can ignore that juggler modifier since you’re not going to be using a gun very much. This is where you get to pick up the big sword, go into third person, and destroy some Hive. It’s a fun mission, and one of my favorites in the game. Won’t take long and won’t be difficult.

So, what did you buy from Xur, if anything?

As always, no Destiny Daily during the weekend, so I’ll see you all Monday morning.

  1. Time to unsubscribe. Sorry, Gary. It’s been fun. Thanks for being my one-stop shop for all things Destiny everyday, but I’m burned out on this title. Recent posts make it sound like you are, too … Bungie confirming a Q2 release (May 19th?) for House of Wolves instead of the originally rumored March 10th is quite a put-off. Maybe some time away from my Guardian for a few months will get me excited for the next expansion. One can only hope. Thanks again!!

    • Do come back when House of Wolves drops!

Definitely getting burned out myself. I’m getting to the point now where I’m just going to run the Nightfall and Weekly three times, maybe raid on Friday’s. Only so many times to do the same missions and get nothing for it, not to mention the same bounties. What’s the point of getting marks and commendations when the vendors don’t sell anything of use to high level players?

May is way too long. The Dark Below didn’t have nearly enough content to maintain interest in the game for that long, and what little there was of that they’ve made you sure to burn you out on by having the two story missions and strike come up so often in the daily/weekly rotation.

They need a lot more bounties, with better rewards. More PVE events. As is, there’s little reason to do anything. I’ve stopped doing the Daily’s for a while now. Every once in a while I’ll do one if I need some ascendant materials (I’ll usually get shards since I have no use for them), but that’s rare.

They also need to reexamine the way exotics are acquired. Folks will say things like “continue to hunt for the Gjallarhorn,” but there’s no hunt to it. It’s random. This week sucked a lot out of me. Still can’t get the assault rifle from Crota hard, through three Nightfalls my loot was 11 Ascendant Shards and 12 strange coins. Coins would be useful if I didn’t already have a large stack of them due to Xur never selling anything. Zero use for Ascendant shards.

The game simply doesn’t respect time put in and in game accomplishments.

There should be exotic solo-only stories. You do enough of something and someone in the tower will have a quest for you. Multi-part. Do this, this and this. Somewhat lengthy. Complete those and you get a special mission (not a story mission). Epic modifier, Nightfall, and a couple of other random ones. Challenging, but only playable solo. Complete it and you get a specific exotic weapon (one that won’t drop anywhere else and Xur will never sell). There should be several of those. And some for armor as well (even legendary armor that reaches max level).

And why is there no Daily Nightfall? The Heroic’s are super easy but give no real reward. Make a Daily Nightfall with a guaranteed legendary engram drop, with a very slight chance of an exotic dropping.
