Let’s Be Cops (2014)
Let’s be honest. You know this movie isn’t going to be good before you see it. That’s not the point. The point is it “not good” in an entertaining way enough to warrant going out to see it. A movie this stupid requires very talented performers to pull it off. And this movie does not have that. Wrestler Chris Jericho has a new web series out called “Nothing to Report” which basically has many of the same jokes told in this movie, but the bits take five minutes per episode instead of two hours of your life. The story, as told by the trailer, (which also has the funniest moments of the movie in it, negating the need to see it) is that two LA losers discover they get way more respect and attention from the ladies when they decide to dress up as cops. One of the losers then decides to make it a full time gig. They proceed to get mixed up in a real life criminal case, featuring the kind of villains you only see in movies, but that’s neither here nor there. Again, with better writing, casting, acting, directing, editing, cinematography, this could have been something. As it is, while I don’t think it is the black hole of suck that some reviewers have proclaimed it to be, it still very much sucks.
