Quick site announcement here.
This Wednesday, we’re starting “Classics Appreciation Wednesday’s” here on Vortex Effect. As a result, the “Now Gaming” feature will be moving to a new day.
To start with, beginning this Wednesday, we’ll have four features:
- Classic Gaming Quick Review
- Classic Wrestling Match of the Week
- Classic Music Spotlight
- TCM Movie of the Week
In January, we’ll be bringing back the old “Classic Cinema Wednesday” review series… which will be shorter reviews than the previous ones.
Because there’s just a lot of garbage produced today. For all the talk of “progress this” and “progressive that,” the only thing Western society has made progress towards is Idiocracy.
Popular entertainment has never been trashier and less devoid of actual talent than it is now. So we’ll shine the old spotlight on some classic movies and music, and hope someone learns to like the old, better, stuff.
Games have gotten better, and wrestling is what it is, but that doesn’t mean the old stuff can’t still get some loving as well.
“Classic Gaming Quick Review” will look at a game from either the 1970s, 1980s, or the early 1990s.
“Classic Wrestling Match of the Week” will usually be something from the 1970s or 1980s, but can and will go back to the 50s and 60s as well.
“Classic Music Spotlight” will focus on a song from the 20s, 30s, 40s, or 50s. Maybe early 60s sometimes, but that’s generally where the slow slide down hill began.
“TCM Movie of the Week” is just recommending one movie to watch on TCM at some point during the week.
“Classic Cinema Wednesday” will be a review of a movie from the Golden Age of Hollywood (the 20s through the early 60s).
Also, before I finish, a quick note to mention that maintenance is still ongoing. It’s a time consuming and tedious thing, getting the site in order through over 2,000 posts, but it is slowly getting done.
It’s nothing that is majorly important, so progress has been slow.
