WWE RAW 8/29/16 Preview: Crowning A New Universal Champion

Pro Wrestling Post

WWE RAW 8/29/16

Tonight WWE RAW rolls into the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas where we will see the crowning of a new WWE Universal Champion.

One week ago, Finn Balor unfortunately had to relinquish the newly minted championship not even 24 hours after becoming the inaugural Universal Champion. Balor’s injury created an opportunity for eight men to have a shot at becoming the new champion.

Seth Rollins took out Sami Zayn. Kevin Owens bested Neville. Big Cass defeated a bruised Rusev via count-out. And finally, Roman Reigns vanquished Chris Jericho.

With that, the stage was set for tonight and the huge Fatal 4-Way to crown the new Universal Champion. It’s going to be Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns vs. Big Cass vs. Kevin Owens.

Which superstar will walk out of Houston the new champion? We’ll find out tonight, and since seeing a new world (or in this case universal) champion crowned on television is always exciting, you’re not going to want to miss tonight’s show.

BayleyAlso last week, Bayley made her long awaited and much deserved RAW debut. She issued a challenge to Charlotte for the Women’s Championship, and then successfully defeated Dana Brooke. Bayley will be in the house tonight and she’ll probably be looking for an answer to her challenge. What hoops might the Women’s Champion want Bayley to jump through tonight in order to get a title shot?

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, The Club, laid waste to the departing Dudley Boyz last week. The duo are still looking to get their hands on the WWE World Tag Team Championship after Jon Stewart and Big E cost them their chance at Summer Slam. You have to think The Club will be looking at dishing out some more punishment to The New Day, and any other team for that matter.

During the Summer Slam  Kick-off Show main-event, Sheamus defeated Cesaro in the first match in the Best of Seven series. Tonight, the second match takes place. Will the Swiss Superman be able to take down the Celtic Warrior to even the series up, or will Sheamus end the night with a two match lead?

RAW airs tonight at 7pm CT on USA Network. If you can’t watch tonight’s show, or just want to read about opinions about it, tonight following the show we’ll be debuting the new “RAW Review” feature where I’ll give my opinions on the entire show after giving the quick results.
