Nintendo Unveils Nintendo Switch, Launching March 2017

Nintendo announced their next console this morning. Codenamed “NX,” the Nintendo Switch will hit stores in March 2017, and as expected is a console/hand-held hybrid. You can check out the system in the video below:

Introducing Nintendo Switch! In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles.

As you can see in the video, Skyrim will be coming to Nintendo Switch. Bethesda tweeted out the following after the reveal:

Bethesda’s not the only publisher on board with the Switch though, as seen in this Nintendo tweet:

Smith’s Sentiment: I bought a Wii U at launch, and while I like the system, I do regret that purchase as a day one. I won’t be getting this anywhere near launch, if ever. The idea of a hybrid doesn’t really appeal to me. If I’m not at home then I really don’t care to play a game. It’ll take more than third party publishers bringing their multiplatform games to the system to get me on board. While I don’t completely hate the concept, and the design is pretty cool, I do wish Nintendo would have taken a more simple approach and not be another gimmick platform. We’ll see how it ends up.

Are you excited about the Nintendo Switch?
