Looking to hit up the theaters this week? Vortex Effect has you covered. Here’s a look at the movies releasing the week of October 23rd. It’s a lite week, with just two movies, but one of them is a heavy hitter as Tom Hanks reprises his role as Robert Langdon in Inferno.
Inferno – Academy Award® winner Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (“Da Vinci Code”) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.
Gimme Danger – Emerging from Ann Arbor Michigan amidst a countercultural revolution, The Stooges’ powerful and aggressive style of rock-n-roll blew a crater in the musical landscape of the late 1960s. Assaulting audiences with a blend of rock, blues, R&B, and free jazz, the band planted the seeds for what would be called punk and alternative rock in the decades that followed. Jim Jarmusch’s new film “Gimme Danger” chronicles the story of The Stooges, one of the greatest rock-n-roll bands of all time. “Gimme Danger” presents the context of the Stooges emergence musically, culturally, politically, historically, and relates their adventures and misadventures while charting their inspirations and the reasons behind their initial commercial challenges, as well as their long-lasting legacy.
