Impact Wrestling returned the Impact Zone in Orlando, FL tonight to tape the first episodes under the new administration of Anthem, Jeff Jarrett, and Dutch Mantel. They debuted a new logo, as seen above, to replace that god awful owl logo. Spoiler warning, results from the taping are below.
- Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards brawled into the crowd.
- Jeremy Borash was introduced as the newest member of the broadcast team.
- Cody Rhodes asked fans if they wanted him to face Moose.
Match 1: Reno Scum def. Bram & Kingston
Match 2: Braxton Sutter def. Marshe Rockett, Caleb Konley, and DJ Z in a four-way
- Cody stopped Brandi Rhodes from wrestling KC Quinn, and challenged Moose for the Grand Championship.
Bruce Prichard came out and announced that the TNA name was no more and that the official name of the company was Impact Wrestling going forward. He brought out Impact Champion Lashley and wondered if anyone could beat him. That brought out the debuting Alberto El Patron (Alberto Del Rio).
Dutch Mantel came out and talked about making Impact great again and the names that are no longer with TNA (AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Kurt Angle, Sting, Christian) because the company had lacked leadership, vision, and respect. He says they’re giving Impact to the fans and that the fans are his boss.
Cody called out Moose again.
Match 3: Laredo Kid & Garza Jr. def. Eli Drake & Tyrus
Match 4: Sienna def. Rachael Ellering
Rockstar Spud announced that Slammiversary would be July 2nd.
Alberto El Patron def. Lashley to become the new Impact Wrestling Champion.
Cody Rhodes attacked Moose with a chair and hit him with a CrossRhodes to stop Moose vs. Eli Drake from happening.
Moose def. Cody Rhodes to retain the Grand Championship.
Cody Rhodes was only scheduled for the taping tonight, so if it seems like an abdunance of Cody they were just using to him to film a couple of weeks worth of material.
