The Purge Takes to the Small Screen With New Series

The Purge

Horror movie franchise The Purge is coming to the small screen with The Purge TV series thanks to Blumhouse’s newly launched independent television studio Blumhouse Television. The new studio are developing The Purge series as their first project alongside Universal Cable Productions. The series is set to air on both USA Network and SyFy.

Purge Producer and founder/CEO of Blumhouse Productions, Jason Blum stated:

Over the past few years, we have been working to build Blumhouse Television into an independent studio so we can have the autonomy to work with the best storytellers and give them freedom to create the best dark genre programming. It is a dream that day is here. Julian and his team at ITV are remarkable partners and we can’t wait to kick things off with The Purge and Secure and Hold. We are excited that with the launch of this new studio, we are expanding our partnership with NBCUniversal by growing The Purge franchise into a television series and are grateful for their incredible support of Blumhouse overall.

Soon all crime will be legal on television in a weekly format. There’s certainly potential there for an intriguing series. The last Purge movie, The Purge: Election year, released last year and raked in over 118 million dollars worldwide making it the most successful Purge movie to date. Not surprisingly, a fourth Purge movie is in production and is scheduled to release on July 4, 2018.
