Rockstar Games took their newswire today to make an announcement regarding Red Dead Redemption 2, but unfortunately it was to announce a delay. While no date had been set for the highly anticipated follow-up to 2010’s mega hit, it was supposed to come this Fall. Now Rockstar has pushed the game back to Spring 2018, some eight years after Red Dead Redemption released for PS3 and Xbox 360.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is now set to launch Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In the meantime, we’ve got some screenshots out of it, so I guess that’s something.
This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.
We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of new screenshots from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Smith’s Sentiment: In a way, I’m kinda happy about this delay. There’s two games I consider favorites; Destiny and Red Dead Redemption. I really didn’t want to see both release Fall 2017 because then I couldn’t really dive into either the way I would want to. Spring 2018 is perfect. I’ve waited over seven years for this game, a few extra months won’t hurt and if Rockstar thinks it needs the extra time, well then I’m sure RDR 2 will be even more amazing than the first one was.
