Review: Vikings – Wolves of Midgard

March 24, 2017 // 0 Comments

Vikings: Wolves of Midgard is an action-RPG developed by Games Farm, a studio from Slovak Republic best known for the Air Conflict series as well as the ARPG Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms. Vikings has drawn a lot of early comparisons to Diablo, and for good reason. Of course Diablo isn’t the only game in this particular genre, but it is the biggest name on the block. Here we have that established formula set in some classic Norse mythology. “Diablo with Vikings” is how some have described it. Now while I do feel the comparison is a good one, after all if you’ve played [...]

Patriot’s Playing #2: Vikings Wolves of Midgard

March 16, 2017 // 0 Comments

Last week I was playing Far Cry Primal, and I did achieve the goal I set out to do and got the platinum trophy for it on Sunday. Really fun game, will probably have a review of it soon. This week I’m playing an unexpected game. I received a copy of Vikings: Wolves of Midgard from Kalypso to review, and so I’m working my way through that. Vikings launches for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 28th, and my review will go live on March 24th. This week’s Now Gaming will be fairly short because of that. I don’t want to say too much about the game. It’s a hack and slash, [...]

Fans who have been playing on the Public Test Realm have already had access to her and have already seen her be nerfed in terms of weapon damage and her Ultimate. Overwatch will be celebrating its one year anniversary in May and is one of the most popular games on the market today, so if you haven’t [...]

Destiny Age of Triumph Weekly Rituals Teaser

March 13, 2017 // 0 Comments

This Wednesday, Bungie will again take to their Twitch channel for the second Age of Triumph reveal livestream. This week the focus will be on the new Weekly Rituals, end game activities Guardians will be able to do each week that will award max light gear. Bungie’s senior designers, Tim Williams and Joe Sifferman, will be on the couch to discuss these rituals and strikes, including the new Daybreak strike which I’m guessing will be a Mayhem Nightfall (i.e. a strike where you get supers insanely fast). We’ll find out exactly what it is, as well as other weekly activities, [...]

Review: Stardew Valley

March 7, 2017 // 0 Comments

Stardew Valley hits all the right notes and checks all the right boxes as a feature rich farming based RPG. If it can be done better, I'd certainly like to see it, but no one person could make a better game for this genre than Eric Barone has done. I'd say it's the peak, the Harvest Moon game many of us always wanted. [...]

Patriot’s Playing #1: Far Cry Primal

March 6, 2017 // 0 Comments

Since Destiny launched in 2014 I’ve played relatively little of anything else. Certainly the number of games that I’ve actually beaten since then could probably be counted on one hand. With the news last week that only character appearances and class will carry over to Destiny 2, I’ve sort of been freed from the Destiny grind. By that I mean I just don’t feel the need to play it right now; I don’t need certain weapons with decent rolls and there’s no need to stockpile stuff. At over 2,500 hours, I think I’ve squeezed enough out of it (not that [...]
