Hey SJW’s, Please Stop Trying to Ruin Super Mario With Your Gender Politics Nonsense

December 22, 2016 // 1 Comment

While browsing the Internet yesterday I came across an article on Recode titled “It’s 2016, so why is Super Mario still rescuing a cake-baking princess?” The terrible article from a deluded Social Justice Warrior claimed that Princess Peach telling Mario she’ll bake a cake was “sexist.” And then followed it up with some nonsense about what women have done in the past 30 years: It has been 30 years since Mario first rescued the princess back in 1985. Since that time, more than 50 women have gone into space, more than two dozen have been elected to the U.S. [...]

New Game Releases for the Week of August 28th

August 28, 2016 // 1 Comment

This week sees a ton of games releases, but not any big releases. If you haven't picked up The Witcher III, this week would be as good a time as any as The Witcher III: The Complete Edition drops for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Also out this week is Livelock and some big DLC in the form of Fallout 4's Nuka World and World of Warcraft: Legion. It's all inside in this week's installment of Gaming Vortex. [...]

The NES Classic Mini comes with a HDMI cable and a NES Classic Controller. The PC indie smash hit Stardew Valley is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U later this year in Q4. Stardew Valley released for PC in February and quickly became a big hit. The farming simulation RPG was inspired by the Harvest Moon franchise. In a post on the Stardew Valley site, developer ConcernedApe [...]

New Game Releases for the Week of April 17th – 23rd

April 17, 2016 // 0 Comments

Don’t let the huge list that follows fool you, this is a fairly pedestrian, some would say terrible, week of game releases. I guess you could say it’s a sort of calm before the May storm. This week is dominated by indie games and arcade classics. If those are your thing, then you’re in luck. If not, well then there’s nothing for you this week. Wii U owners are the big winners this week I suppose, as Star Fox Zero releases on Friday. Here’s the full rundown of new games releasing this week: April 18th: Typefighters (PC) Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (PC) [...]

Our Most Anticipated Wii U Titles

September 24, 2012 // 2 Comments

Nintendo’s next-gen console, Wii U, launches in North America on November 18th. There are over 50 launch window (November through March) titles already confirmed. Wii U is launching with two versions; a basic white 8GB version for $299 and a deluxe black 32GB version that includes NintendoLand and a few other items for $349. Both versions are completely sold out of pre-orders at the moment, and GameStop’s President Tony Bartel recently stated that “Demand for Wii U has been off the charts.” All indications are that Wii U will be as hard to find after launch as [...]

Review: Madden NFL 13

August 24, 2012 // 1 Comment

It’s August, which means a new season of football is almost upon us, and it also means it’s time for a new edition of the yearly sports juggernaut Madden NFL. I had the pleasure of reviewing Madden 12, and enjoyed last years edition (my first NFL game in years) enough that I scored it a 9.0. Some folks disagreed with that score, in fact I apparently had an “incorrect review” as one commenter who didn’t agree with the high score put it. Well here’s the scoop… After playing Madden NFL 13 for the past week and a half, I can confidently say that I [...]

Review: Darksiders II

August 19, 2012 // 11 Comments

This review is for the PC version of Darksiders II, and as such I’m going to spend the first portion of this review talking about the problems I’ve had with the PC version. Darksiders II was very obviously designed with a controller in mind; it’s not at all keyboard and mouse friendly. I don’t do a ton of PC gaming, especially new games, so I don’t have a gamepad or an 360 controller to plug in, and thus I’ve experienced a number of frustrating things while playing Darksiders II. My biggest complaint is that the camera sucks and often seems like its [...]

NintenDO #1: Donkey Kong Arcade

May 3, 2012 // 0 Comments

This is the first edition of a new Nintendo focused gaming column/article series here at TVE. It’s called NintenDO because these are things I (or whoever writes a particular installment) would like to see Nintendo do. I don’t know how often these features will be posted, but I’m going to shoot for one or two a month myself, and anyone else on staff is free to post their own whenever they feel like it. It’s already come out that Nintendo is going to finally get with the program in regards to digital distribution with the 3DS and with Wii U. I’m not bashing the [...]
